I just dont know what the hell we gonna do vs Barca especially as we wont be able to play our usual possession game. We need to be different and still effective, also defending really well. Not against Giroud but Messi/Neymar/Suarez trio at once.

We need to be closer to them than last years tie which ended in two losses in 4-1 agg. results in two games.

These Burnley, Everton, Arsenal results costing us a lot.

Throwing away leads, 2-0, 1-0...
Giving away easy goals like stupid pens, set pieces like not tracking players with known ability as a good header. Maybe underrate opponent.
ZERO danger from corners. Maybe only danger from our corners is that they have a counter from them ffs.
Lack of concentration too.
etc.

Our first half display vs Arsenal today and the second half display vs Burnley, put that two halfs together and its some of the worst "game" for us.

We cant build on making clean sheets clearly, thats not even in Pelle's plans probably, but we really struggle in games if we cant score 3+ goals.

No way we can outscore Barca tho. We need organized defending, lots of workrate too.

The way we are defending at the moment,
We haven't got a prayer against Barca. All it took was a decent quick side and we were done. Burnley and Sunderland had shown signs of this but clearly are not at Arsenal's level. Barca of course are much better than Arsenal so without Toure we will get beat unless Pellegrini completely changes his tactics.

Sadly we have next to no chance against barca. Messi looks up for it again and when he is he's simply unstoppable.

The Barcelona game is 6 weeks away

Toure, Bony will be back by then. Aguero should be fit by then and Nasri should be back too

It will be a different team.

Unfortunately Marvin, Toure is suspended.

We need to cut this crap defending out because if we don't they will cut through us without Toure playing.

Until we develop a pressing style of defence (as , ironically every fookin club has done to us of late) we will give attacking players way too much time on the ball.. this is not an option against talented attacks and, as games v Weds, Burnley CSKA have shown, make lesser opposition look better than they are

Why the F@@k are we so unable to press ??

On attacking corners.. I have seen Hough End junior teams show more imagination

On defending corners... are we man-for-man or zonal ? Are the players themselves clear about this ???

Sorry

not good enough at present

Last season, and in some games this, when we've scored 3 4 we've not really taken any notice of how open we are, how poor we are at pressing, how poor our concentration levels can be, how we run to the ball too quickly or dive in too much and get exposed, and how we do not know who is supposed to be marking whom on set pieces. I suppose a 6-3 win will satisfy enough to make you not pay attention to the defensive side of things.

I've not been particularly impressed in our defending this season.

Our passing is predictable and slow at the moment as well. We have a very low intensity to our play.

8 points dropped at home this season, 6 home defeats in all comps in the last 11 months...that's just not what I expect from City when we used to have this "fortress Etihad" feel to this club with two year unbeaten home run and an unbeaten home European record. Our home record was always reliable and I used to feel confident in the way we defended.

The manager needs to get ontop of these things sharpish. Whether that be get them firing up front again or organise them defensively far better than we have been.

I think he is a great manager but FFP and other teams snatching targets are making it harder because the very best teams spend a lot of money on the best players, that's a general football fact.

I do think he is getting almost as much out of the squad as he can. I don't think we have signed a real what you could call world class player since 2011 (Mangala may end up one in a few years) but with some good 'squad builders' (I'd say Fernandinho could flirt with world class status in his best form) he won a double.

Give him the players Real, Bayern and very recently Chelsea chiefs have handed to their coaches have been able to acquire and he'd probably have us even better. I mean, imagine Soriano had been able to hand him Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez last summer or Matic and Fabregas.
We've spent around £250m since 2011. To say we haven't picked up some world class in that shows some poor recruitment.

With the players we sold in the Summer we had around £65-70m to spend in that window, do we look like a team that's strengthened a double win with £70m worth of talent? To me we look like we've gone backwards.
