Yeah. Bravo is their keeper in the league.

Yep, Bravo who turns 33 this month. I find it quite strange that they're happy to let 23 year old Ter Stegen leave rather than just promote him to playing league games. Perhaps they want to jump in and take De Gea while the opportunity is there.

I don't know either way but I'd be shocked if Guardiola was to allow Hart to leave without seeing him at close quarters in the preseason.
The point is, we need a number two who's good enough to push Joe. If Willy goes we have to bring somebody in, if there's a chance we can get this lad in then I can see why we would.
Your point makes total sense.

+1

A lot is made of Hart's undeniably poor distribution but he's one of the best shot stoppers in the world, particularly one on one. I'd be amazed if anyone prioritised a goalkeeper's passing ability over his... goalkeeping ability.
If we were going ahead with Willy then I'd see your point. Stegan is a quality all round keeper though, the footwork is just a bonus.

I get the feeling it's Stegen himself who is pushing it. I wouldnt be totally surprised if he stays there as the number 1 keeper, and he's just giving them a nudge in that direction.

That would make sense. Anyone who's ever played under Pep in the past is in a prime position to renegotiate contracts at the moment. Getting agents to link their players to us seems the easiest way to go about it.

He is pushing the move because he wants more games, so if he is coming wouldn't he be contracted to the no.1 spot?

It's not nailed on so more to see

No goalkeeper is ever given a contract that states he should be number one. It would be ridiculous, and although we've got form for the ridiculous at our club I doubt even we would be that daft.

Maybe I've just not seen enough of him but I just see him as a keeper with different strengths and weaknesses to Joe rather than an improvement.

He's definitely not the shot stopper Hart is, but he is still a good one.

The problem is that playing with a goalkeeper who can function happily in the passing triangles at the back is absolutely necessary, because it means you are always a man up in open play. 10 defenders vs 11 on your side.

So unless Joe can build up the confidence and technique to play out from the back, it doesn't matter that he's better as a shot stopper, better 1v 1, better at commanding the defence, a better leader in the dressing room.

It's like having 2 strikers, one is a great playmaker, great at free kicks & penalties, fantastic dribbler, but he can't score, he gets 1 in 10.

The other striker is alright at everything else, nowhere near the first guy, but bangs in a goal per game - who do you pick?
