Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Here's a thought, let's say of the 20 times Hart just smashes the ball upfield everytime we got pressed we'll just assume Ter Stegen manages to keep possession for us 50% of the time. That's 10 less times the opposition will have the ball and therefore less chances to be attacked. And that's being conservative. Keep in mind I LOVE Joe, but our possession game suffers because of him (and our CBs + Fernando + Kolarov).

You all need to remind yourself that Ter Stegen is not some chump keeper that cannot stop a shot. Ter Stegen is a class shotstopper, might not be in the same class as Joe but still class nonetheless. All of you speak as if he's this outfield player that can only pass and not stop a shot at all. Me personally I'd be fine sacrificing a little bit of those shotstopping ability for a little bit more possession keeping, just for the fact that there'll be less chance for the opponent to attack us. We might be a monster in keeping possession in the PL but in Europe we're chumps. Couldn't even dominate possession against PSG.

I'd add to that the fact that no one moves and creates the space for him to play it from the back. There's only so much Joe can do, unless the players give him the opportunity to play it short he will have to force the issue like in recent weeks which can cause trouble.

Read today in my german news paper that Ter Stegen apparently has an 80 million fixed transfer fee in his contract with Barca, and that Barca would insist on getting this, making any deal completely unlikely. I think we can forget about this one. Just as well if you ask me. There are other areas of the team where City should be spending money.

But it's a position that Guardiola will feel is very important to get right. He doesn't just make do, he want his team's playing as one which starts at the GK. Obviously we won't be looking at him if the price is stupid but if it stays around the £20 million mark its a no-brainer.

According to Marca Barcelona are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Blaugrana have reportedly targeted the 24-years-old to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Think he is coming then.

Hart knocks the ball long for 1 reason.
Because he is told to.
Is the right answer. Lets not forget that their is ZERO movement by players getting into space to receive a pass as well - which is why this thread is totally ridiculous.

6 FABULOUS saves in 2 games against PSG and Real Madrid @Home says Hart is the bees knees.

Luckily we had a keeper that made outstanding saves to keep us in the tie.

It's getting a bit tiresome with the hart ,when Barcelona get the ball the two centre halves split the defensive midfielder drops deep give the goalkeeper 5 different options , joe is obviously told to hit the best header of the ball,it used to be Milner joe would aim for.

Victor Valdes? Loan cancelled at Standard and contract at United expires in the summer. Cheaper and more likely to play no.2 to Hart. Is it a step up from Willy? Maybe? Will he push Hart for the no.1 spot, most likely not. But it would save £20m+

Just an idea...

They won't even get into a useful position from throw ins so I fail to see how any goalkeeper would have been pinging passes around our back line with success anyway. Chances are it would just lead to a decent collection of YouTube howlers.

I get what people have said about Hart but give him either the chance to play with a willing set of players or at least for Pep's first hand judgement.
