Yeah, Danilo. A bit like saying Cucurella would cost £20m if Zinchenko had gone the other way. That “£60m fee” for Cancelo is a bit disingenuous.

Those players you've mentioned have at least some of the following qualities:To be fair to Brighton the price for FB's under contract has been around £50m for a few years now. Us with Walker, Mendy, Cancelo, Chelsea with Chilwell, United similar with AWB.
If £40m was our ceiling I'm surprised if we thought we had a chance.
Great set up they’ve got. As long as they hold on to the manager, they’ll keep uncovering gems like Cucurella and Bissouma who the financially stronger clubs will want to buy for millions. It’s not so long ago Brighton nearly went altogether.Strange take.
On the whole they play good football and their fans aren’t a load of deluded nasty thugs like a number of other clubs I could mention.
I’d much rather have Brighton in the Prem than Burnley.
What a load of crap !!
Just because City don`t agree on the same valuation of player makes us arrogant ?
FFS grow a pair.
I`m glad you`re noy holding the purse strings at City.
In fact, was deemed so good that he beat Sergio, in his first season for City, to YPoSIndeed, we are correct with our response and could add to it further.
All decent full backs moving around Europe this Summer have gone for around £30m. Walker was an England international, had previously won Young Player of the Season and got into the Prem team of the year rated as the top right back in the Prem, played in the Prem for years and was no questions ready to play for a top side. Cancelo was a Portugal international already playing at a top side, had got into the Serie A team of the season rated as the top right back in Serie A…
Cucurella has played for Eigar, Getafe and Brighton, got one international cap, and has had one good season in the Prem, and is a bit of a chance…
Whenever we’ve signed anyone at this level and where it’s a bit chancey whether they’d be of a high enough standard or not, we’ve spent between £20-40m-ish.
That “£60m fee” for Cancelo is a bit disingenuous.
When negotiating the seller sets their price & the buyer offers what their valuation is, Then discussions are held where a price is agreed, normally somewhere in the middle part.Again totally missed my point mate.
I have already said City did good holding on to their value but Brighton always said the deal would be over 50 million. If we don’t intend to pay that much why waste time here and not go for someone we can afford and play from get go.
If you don’t realise that we are two days from the start of the league and have only two fullbacks and this could be an issue this season. Esp with Walker injuries
