That’s an insane fee really, given his relative lack of experience. Fair play to Brighton for getting that amount, but don’t blame City for walking away. We’d have been absolutely panned for “distorting the market” if we’d paid that.
I’ll take pannings all day, every day if we pile up the trophies. It really isn’t an “insane “ fee. It was probably 25-30% higher than our offer. “Insane” would be offering 100-150 million. 55-60 million for a player under contract in the prem, who has the potential to help the team run the league/ champs league etc is other going rate. Chelsea have beaten us to it on this one. No denying it, no covering or buttering it up with talk of “over the odds “ etc. Plain and simple, we’ve lost out here.

We have lost out by not paying 62 million for a player who’s had one average season ? Ok hahaha

Not if he gets it. Fair play. Just wish we walked sooner. Future Brighton players may be fearful of such high valuations though blocking them of potential moves
Future and current Brighton players won’t give a solitary fuck about this. In fact, they’ll look and think the Chairman has ensured they move for the biggest and best possible fee.

worth to note that brighton are getting colwill, a young, very good prospect on a loan, so chelsea are also essentially paying for his development, still an overpay though

How much did we get for Sterling?

Should have got £60m+ for him if we knew their new owner was mad.
