Marcos Lopes

90 minutes for him in the 2nd leg, no reason not to give him his first full match for the first team.

Agreed. Didn't have enough chance to do anything yesterday, you can't really take anything out of his time other than the wonderful back heel. Give him a full run out. Maybe a right back from the EDS too as we're once again in danger of running Zab into the ground.

Apparently Pellegrini has told the board to give him a new contract, he must be impressed

I think it's Nasri to Lopes to Kolarov to Dzeko to back of the net. Amirite?
Yep, Gifs somewhere on the forum if you want to watch again, had a lovely row with the daily mail gutter-snipe journo about that this morning via e-mail for claiming it was nasris backheel and saying lopes didn't do enough for a rating...

'kin 'ell they almost played it as fast as I wrote it. That's liquid football that. What a great time to be Blue. ^^

Lovely move, especially when you see it again and see kolarovs positioning just as lopes nutmegs the defender with the backheel

Players develop at different rates. Some then stall, some keep going.

No reason Lopes can't and won't be a bigger talent by the time he's 21. All depends on the development of the two. Right now, Januzaj is in an advantageous situation as he gets to play in a poor team, while Lopes has Silva, Nasri, Navas and Milner to contend with (also potentially Jovetic).

One thing is for sure, if we're serious about talents like Lopes, there is no way we should be signing any new attacking midfielders/wingers in the near future (i.e. Reus, Di Maria, Draxler), or it could destroy any hopes he has. There would just be too many blocking his path, none of them particularly old.

I genuinely think that he will not look out of place at all in our first team squad once he gets a settled place there and knows he belongs in that company. He's the sort of player that will suit our style and will thrive with better players around him. Clearly Pellegrini is increasingly impressed with him and the Barca boys have set a lot of their "holistic" hopes on him, so it could be some exciting times. Hopefully he can continue his progress and be a genuine part of our first team squad in a year or two. It's important to remember that he has still only just turned 18, so it's remarkable that he's even in contention with our collection of players is pretty impressive

He looks a very good player Lopes . He helped set up Dzeko . Not frightened to take his man on .

I hadn't realised it was his back-heel.

I may have misjudged his performance and his potential for an 18 year old.

Pellegrini obviously likes him as well so I'll go with it. He seems to know talent when he sees it.

His nickname is Ronnie apparently. Anyone know why?

Was runner-up in Junior World Snooker Championships as a 14 year old. Quit after that to concentrate on football

Epic Fail.

A season long loan to a mid table PL side that plays good possession football, like Everton or Swansea, may help him in the future?
