Marcos Lopes

very good effort and seems to have a level head on his shoulders. I enjoyed his tenacious tackling. There were a few times where he cleverly won the ball back.
Keep on working hard Marcos and your rewards will come.

Does anyone find him a bit like an unfinished Tevez?

can see a bit of tevez in him but less finishing and more creating. similar bullish look on and off the ball, though

The biggest thing for me last night was his willingness to track back ;) he put in a full shift which as an 18yr old is no mean feat. Am I wrong in thinking he was taking the corners from the right at the end?

Indeed he did take corners from the right.

Ah good, I'm not crazy. They were whipped in with plenty of pace. Good to see.

I know this will be shot down, but if we were to go 451 against Barcelona in light of Milner/Nasris absence I wouldn't mind Lopes at all on the left with Silva the AM. Lopes is quick and sharp enough to help press Barcelona in the initial phase, which will be vital. Him and Navas are *by far* the best players at the club at this. One on each side would really help when Barcelona's CBs spread to receive the ball from Valdes in the FB positions. Then Kun to pick up Busquets and you have the Mourinho playbook vs Barcelona right there.

The alternative is Garcia in CM with Yaya pushed on and Silva at LM.. You lose a lot of the sharpness in the press with this setup as Silva isn't quite quick enough and Yaya is Yaya.

You could also trust Lopes with the ball and going forward. Fuck it, I'd play him.
