So how do we ensure Barca don't just come in and poach him, like they did with Suarez and Roman? Hopefully he stays loyal to us, because in the coming years there'll be a lot of interest in him.

Did Barca really poach those two or were we more than happy that they moved on as not quite good enough?

My guess would be the latter and only time will tell if it was a wrong assessment.

Agreed, given their talent level, the compensation received and the fact we had better potential at younger ages,i don't reckon the academy bosses saw them as significant losses.

Yup, haven't been so excited by one of our youngsters in a long time. He'll fit right in. Quality

I may reconsider MotM when I've seen the TV coverage but he was my choice last night. I've been impressed every time I've seen him. Kid's got moxy too.
sky gave it to him too.

So did the guy sat behind me and I trust him more than Sky ;-) (happened to find myself sitting in front of guys from row behind me at Etihad).

Played very well last night, I always thought he was a winger type player but he did really well in the middle. Lets hope he can cope with the pressure of bigger games and hopefully get himself a few goals, he deserved one last night.

Aguero used to play regularly every week since he was 17, as well as Messi , Ronaldo and all of the great players.

The sooner he goes out on loan and play the better.

There's no gurantee that if he goes out on loan that he will play

Or that he won't be told "stay out wide and get some crosses in and if they come near ya, go down and get a free kick!"
I'm sure that there's plenty he can learn from quality players like Silva, Nasri, Jovetic, Milner and Navas, besides, when Aguero, Messi etc were 17, it was more like 15 games a season they played, any more injuries to our attacking mids and he'll get that.

Loan him to who ? He needs to play in a similar formation/style that we do to gain anything, better staying here.

I think we had no choice with Suarez because of his contract, but the money we'll get for him is pretty good if he makes it at Barca (he is doing pretty well in their B team w/ 5 assists and 3 goals this season).

Also, they were Spanish... Lopes isn't. Lopes also seems to have more of an emotional attachment to the club and just signed a new 3-year deal last summer. And unlike Suarez and Roman, he is getting a generous amount of first team chances for his age.

Really impressed with him last night. Great strength and balance for a 19 year old. Granted it wasn't the best opposition but he showed he is definitely one that could even be played instead of a couple of regulars in the middle. Replacement for Garcia for example in the near future. I wouldn't send him out on loan. If we continue to stay in cup competitions he will be a regular feature, even against lesser teams in the Premiership.
