People keep saying the tournament shouldn't be taking place until these countries sort things out seem to be missing a key point. What better incentive to change attitudes among football fans? We hosted Euro 96 at a time when we were still dealing with hooliganism. When we were actually awarded the hosting of the tournament there were major issues with safety at games. The tournament helped in the process of cleaning up football in England.

Euro 2012 could be a huge force for good in Poland and Ukraine. Grounds have improved and hopefully the tournament will help with the racism problem.

Sorry mate but the hooligans in england prior to 96 was not based on race. A racist is a bigot and bully. If you ignore a bully does he stop and go away? No! Fact show me a bully and underneath you will find a racist.

I was in Krakov, Poland, with a few lads for a stag-do and all I can say is we are not white and we didn't see or experience any racism there. Actually people there are quite helpful.

Ok, so we didn't go to a football match there so can't comment on that part. Can't be worse than what a few German fans in Napoli experienced during the Champs League group games getting stabbed by a biker.

I see....well, I think someone's ought to analyse the racial situation in those countries in bit more detail (is this a common occurence or isolated incident) before coming out with such harsh statements...by no means I'm saying those countries are safe havens - but incidents like that, again, happen everywhere (England included)...it's the frequency that matters more IMO.

Had very nice experiences in Warsaw likewise....Polish people apparently just love to get piss ass drunk...all the time :-)

But people will always be looking to criticize, without knowing a first thing about a country....see C-T-I-D and alike.

Eagles you need to watch the panorama documentary. The attack on the Asians wasn't just random as there were literally thousands and i do mean thousands of white supremacist at that match all doing the Nazi salute. In fact before the match the guy that did the documentary went of and did an interview with the leader of their group and he himself showed how nasty they are. Also the most worrying thing was the Ukrainian police high up that was interviewed denied that anything like that ever happened at any football match EVER. Even though the documentary team had footage showing all the Nazi/white supremacist shit going on at every single match they went to.

BTW the Asians were not fans of an opposing team they were actually their to support the white supremacist team. Also they were sat in the family stand as they thought they would be safe in there.
