Take the intent out of the kick against Parker.

Someone care to enlighten how Mario continues to go out on to the field of play and avoid being pre-judged, on past rep?

He can't. Which will only continue to hurt the team.

As I said in a previous post. We highlight this as much as possible. The media by its very nature will always turn opinion on its axis and look for other viewpoints. There is currently a media frenzy so we should use it to our advantage – tell the footballing nation that we feel Mario is being victimised for tackles/incidents that other players have got away with. Put it out there while the iron is hot. That way people will be looking for any inconsistencies and persecution of balotelli – and in my opinion referees will think much more carefully about whether an incident involving balotelli actually justifies a card because they know the nation will be watching.
Give him a boll*cking behind the scenes by all means but in public we back him to the hilt

It's a dangerous road the one you suggest, mate, especially at this stage in the run in.

It has similar hallmarks to Benitez during the title challenge a couple years back when he got his list out and compared stats with United.

It was embarrassing.

Canvass the FA and Refs association in private, sure, for all the good it will do.

Balotelli CAN'T WIN. Any referee who misses an incident, will cover their arse regardless.

I’m certainly not suggesting a benitez style rant. Mancini should have nothing to do with this.
I think the statement put out by mario’s agent was absolutely brilliant – it’s exactly the kind of thing I’m on about. Let people know what they stand to lose.
At the moment the default thought in a referee’s head is “it’s balotelli – he’s probably done it”. We need to change that default thought to “it’s balotelli, I best make sure I’m absolutely f*cking positive he has done it before I give him a card”
Doing this is very easily done – united have been doing it for the past 20 years. I’d love to know how many cards rooney has received since he was banned for swearing down a camera.

The big problem as I see it is that we are not seeing significant improvement. He is not showing an ability to learn or improve. When he joined he was a young player with an attitude problem which needed solving. He's still a young player but his attitude problem is still there. A point comes where you have to decide that the negatives are not going away. He gets that many cards and suspensions that, as it stands, he is ultimately a liability.

Last chance saloon, get rid in summer if there is any repeat.

i think he`s improve in every department.

and using this criteria would you if you were the rags sell wayne rooney

He hasn't improved in the discipline deparment, which is what I'm talking about.

Interesting that a fair few of you who think there is no agenda also think Mario is a marked man . Surely if we are being treated quid pro quo then we have no reason to "say goodbye" as it will blow over soon and he will be treated as just another footballer like everyone else ,no better no worse.

No i dont believe it either.

Its not people wanting him to go, but if he cant control his actions on the pitch there is little choice in the matter. Everyone agrees he's a special talent when he wants to be, but if he is going to miss 10 games every year becuase of silly fouls what do City do. This is what the OP is getting at. For the greater good of the team either he changes his attitude or he has to go??

I think people get what you're saying and THD, but don't reach the same conclusion. Mario is up against it from all angles for sure...some self imposed, much of it media hysteria. Strip away the media hysteria and what's left are a few indisretions, more than compensated for by brilliant play.

For me, he is in credit as far as brilliant play is concerned.

Is he showing an upward trajectory of better discipline on the pitch? Yes, I think he is.

If this continued, could he be one of the best players in the world? Yes.

Is he one of the most exciting and entertaining talents in world football? Yes.

Conclusion: We must keep him.

What of the media?

Are they hurting our image (abeit with some help from Mario)? Yes.

Do they want City to do well? No

Conclusion: We cannot react to media bias.

What of the FA authorities?

Are they singling Mario out for special attention? Yes
Will this continue? Probably
Can this be mitigated? Yes...improve Mario's discipline and awareness further. Experience will help him.

Overall conclusion: Keep him as a footballer, support him through the media hypocricy....and Manchester is better than Naples.

THIS^^^^^^

I'm going to go against the grain here and say he hasnt actually showed a sustained run of form for us. Yes he has done very well for someone his age and yes he has scored enough but I'm not convinced he has hit anywhere near a) his top form and b) his potential.

I think he knows it as well.

NO.

Its very simple. Just think of it this way.
Will the rags be happy to want him to go away.
If yes then we shouldn't oblige the scums.

Just to remind you of his post match performance at Wembley against the scums ;) and the utter devastation his 'why always me' celebration in the demolition derby.

Those are priceless and ageless and once in a lifetime. You would have given one of your nuts ( I would) for those legendary humiliation of the scums.

Lest we forget!

How fickle minded or feeble minded we folks can be!

End of the day we must keep him.

Would i want him to get a better deal from the press? of course - would i want him to change? not at all!!

You take the attitude and personality out of him and you take half the player. Other players in the past have had similar, Shrek went through a phase of constant red mist, granted without the media fury that Mario gets, but that is for obvious reasons of the colour of his shirt. Cantona was the same, he bloody attacked a fan and still was idolised when he returned. Why are we so quick to jump on the back of our players???

Mario could be one of the best players the Prem has seen, if we back him and stand by him. Deal with the liability side, he comes as a package, yeah we will no doubt get countless other incidents over the next few years whislt he is maturing, but i guarantee we will get more moments of brilliance/moments to remember to more that level it up!!

Come on lets get behind the lad!!!

There's a huge difference though, rooney has "improved", because they now just ignore most of his antics.
Yes but they didn't sell him when he was Mario's age and getting the shit press either.
