Guys - it is a penalty. What is so amazing about a penalty?

You have 80% chance that you'll score. It doesn't change the fact that we were utter shite all night.

or 100% chance of it going in if you're Mario Balotelli ..............

Are you telling me that Aguero or Tevez or Dzeko or Nasri or Silva would not score 11 out of 11 if given a chance???!!!

These guys are among the best in the world. Most people in this forum would score at least 6 out of 11 for Christ's sake! Don't make a big deal out of nothing. Scoring from penalty is not too difficult and there are literally thousands of players who can do it as well as Balo. No need to celebrate something that everyone can do.

There is a youtube video where Hart defends Balo's penalty kick.

So there - nobody is perfect. Everyone can miss a PK. Not a big deal.

Is it the one when Hart and people cheers like he have done something like no one in the world have done before him?

http://www.mcfc.co.uk/news/team-news/2012/june/i-know-marios-secret-says-hart

Joe Hart reckons he’s sussed out Mario Balotelli’s unique penalty-taking methods – but won’t reveal the secret until his City team-mate has taken one against him in a competitive game.

With the possibility that could happen in Sunday’s Euro 2012 quarter-final between England and Italy, Joe is keeping mum - for now.

Mario has successfully converted every penalty he’s taken for the Blues so far with consummate ease, including the last-gasp high-pressure winner against Spurs last January, and Joleon Lescott revealed he also regularly takes them against Hart in training – with equal success.

“To be fair, Joe doesn’t usually get near them and he’s one of the best keepers in the world,” said Lescott. “In fact, when he eventually did save one, he ran around shouting as though he’d won the World Cup!”

With Hart now facing Balotelli for the first time in a competitive game, the England No.1 admits he will have to be at his best if he does face a spot-kick from the Italian striker.

Mario Balotelli Italy

“I hate to say it, he’s one of the best I’ve ever faced,” said Hart. “He's got this mad ability where he doesn't need to look at the ball.

If you don't move he kicks it in the
corner; if you do move he kicks it the
other way – it’s almost impossible to
stop...

...Joe Hart

I've got to agree here, taking a penalty is a skill just like any other, some people are simply better at it than others. Balotelli is clearly exceptional at taking penalties. I'm sure others are very good, but Balotelli is a level above the rest. Tevez, for example, I've never been convinced by.

Well, Michael Owen took 23 penalties for Liverpool.
Scored 13 and missed 10...

In other words, most people in this forum is better than Owen when it comes to penalties?

Manchester City's 'smart dog' Mario Balotelli wins mind games, says Borussia Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller
Roman Weidenfeller, the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper, has admitted that Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli won the battle of the minds ahead of his last-minute equaliser in the two side's 1-1 draw in their Champions League group game at the City of Manchester Stadium on Wednesday night.

On a night that was dominated by goalkeeping heroics that saw Joe Hart, City's No 1, hailed as the "best keeper in the world” by Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, his German opposite found himself the centre of attention following a late penalty.

With the clock ticking down and City trailing the German champions 1-0 a Sergio Agüero’s volley struck Neven Subotic, the Serbian centre-half before referee Pavel Kralovec ruled him to have handled the ball.

Weidenfeller, who had been playing a game of 'anything you can do, I can do better' with Hart all night, stepped forward and attempted to psyche out Balotelli.

"I whispered in his ear," Weidenfeller told German newspaper Blick.

The Italian, though, remained calm as City's chances of progressing from a tough Group D following their opening game defeat to Real Madrid appeared to be fading fast.

Weidenfeller later conceded that Balotelli was too cute to buckle under such pressure. "He is a smart dog who couldn't be influenced by me."
