No penalty given on Silva, therefore that equals 'simulation'...

No. No it doesn't. Do you just make these things up as you go along or have you ever had a quick glance at the laws of the game?

For what it's worth I do think we should have had a penalty, but a decision of "no penalty" absolutely, categorically does not have to mean simulation. In fact in the vast majority of cases it doesn't mean simulation, it simply means no foul.

Contact between players is not always a foul.

kicking a player in to mid air is not always a foul.

edited for accuracy.

I I hear a ref on sky the other day say that none of the modern refs would have made the grade 'in their day' probably old man's nonsense, but it does seem the standards get worse each year....
I totally agree that modern day referees are no where near as good as those from the olden days. There is a total lack of consistency in their decision making for example Reina and Lescott's "handballs". And instead of talking to players - its out with a card (I've got a quota to meet)

The problem with Clattenburg, and too many other referees these days, is that they have a God Complex.

They look at the players, all earning 50 times the amount they are on, and he still wants to be the main player on the field... proving the point that it is him and not the players that determine the result of a match.

Referees are traditionally failed footballers. Couldn't make the grade as a player when young, they turn to refereeing as a means of being part of the game. And that ego never leaves them.

Too many believe that the only way to get their deserved recognition is to be as controversial as possible.

They know that no matter how crap they are, the Referees Association and the Premier League are not going to sack them.

Imagine a player making as many outrageous mistakes as Clattenburg... they be plying their trade in the non-leagues within a couple of years.

Until a few of the incompetents are sacked this will only get worse.

Even Graham Poll wrote this week that the Premiership referees are now complacent and take it for granted that they have an easy job for life.

Referees are not accountable. Just like God!

In that particular incident, it could only have been a penalty or a dive.

When he waved away the pen I thought he was going to book him for diving
The camera on the other side shows it was a clear cut pen

wasn't he in charge of the zagreb 1-7 lyon match in the CL ? a fair few questions asked about his decisions there

Wank today. Good job it was one of those home fixtures we bossed so that he, like Atwell against Wolves, couldn't influence it too much. Two penalty shouts for us denied, which is the usual (I haven't watched the TV version yet to see if they were stonewall but the second looked a penalty live), but the amount of fouls against us was ridiculous while Bolton got away with similar.

Same old story....

Possession: City 65% / Bolton 35%
Fouls: City 14 / Bolton 7
