Mark Hughes' exit from Manchester City

i get very bored when searching sites so 1st quote i found on mcfc.co.uk from Adebayor interview after Chelsea game....

And that top four target? "We will carry on to the end, we won't give up - we'll keep playing for a top four place until the last kick. It will be difficult, but we believe we can do it."

What did you want him to say, "No, our target is top six so I will settle for that."

pmsl.

so when OUR OFFICIAL SITE asks Ade about "the top 4 target" and he gives said answer then that isn't conclusive?

you couldn't fucking make it up.

Roque Santa Cruz interview with Sky Sports News.....

"We haven't been playing bad in parts, we have been playing really good but it seems we are not just closing the games when we have the chances and then we are conceding goals for mistakes that shouldn't happen," Santa Cruz told Sky Sports News.

"You are just putting pressure on yourself, but I think we have a squad full of experienced players and then you can work it out in your favour.

"People are very keen on stopping us, they are really thinking how to make us lose points. We just need to stay focused and get rid of these succession of draws and just start winning."

The Paraguayan insists that all personnel are determined to attain a Champions League position by pulling together to get back to winning ways.

"Pressure is on everyone," stated Santa Cruz.

"We have a clear aim for the season, which is to get in to the top four and we have been dropping a lot of points with these draws, which is not helping anyone.

"We are a team, a family, all of us are involved in this together.

"We are just not doing enough to win the games."

Garry Cook, November this year:

"We are sixth in the table with a home League Cup quarter-final tie to come. We have set higher expectations in a short space of time and Mark (Hughes) and I talk about this a lot. It is not a great start but it is not a bad start."

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you as Mark Bowen stated "we were a couple of points off our target position" we were 5th at the time he said it, on Talksport.

As for the article "Arry" is behind it piling on the pressure for tonight.

All great detective work trying to prove your point but you aren't doing very well.

Show me one article that says that Mark Hughes, not the players, not the journalists, has been given a target of a top four finish this season.

Do you seriously think that Mark Hughes has not outlined his targets to the players he brought in.

They are basically sold on the premise of top four and beyond, unless you are now suggesting that the manager's aims and that of his playing squad are different.

Now that would be VERY BAD.

[ The point about a top 6 finish is that it would demonstrate a satisfactory degree of progress ...
No it wouldn't.

We were 8th 2 seasons ago. And the top 4 have arguably gone backwards since then.

£200m for 2 places? That would be a disaster.[/quote]

Pardon me for saying so but would it balls. How could our best ever premier league finish be a disaster?

£200m for nothing higher than 6th place on a consistent basis over the next 4-5 years, now that would be a disaster I grant you. But a top 6 finish this season - whilst disappointing to all of us - would not exactly be a failure for what is still a work in progress.

Do bear in mind that it is 35 years since we have qualified for Europe other than via the fair play league. Do bear in mind that 8th is the best finish City have achieved as a premier league team. Do bear in mind that 6th is the highest we have achieved in any sort of top flight football since the 1970s - and just remember what free flowing joyous football we played under Howard Kendall and Peter Reid.

As you know, Rome wasn't built in a day, or even in two seasons. And it never would have been built if they sacked the architect with as much haste as some people on this site want to sack Hughes.
