Martín Zubimendi

It would be great if City could persuade him to come but would he sit on the bench after Rodri comes back, that's the million dollar question.

I very much doubt he'll go anywhere to sit on the bench. We'd have to find a way to play him alongside Rodri once he's fit. And that applies to pretty much any world class player we'd want to bring in to lessen our reliance on Rodri.

Not convinced we can get him in January after he's turned down the dippers and Arsenal this summer. That's quite a drastic shift within just a few months. If he is the main target we have to get it signed and done before January 1st both so it can be an instant transfer and so we don't get fucked around with his indecision and waste time waiting on him.

What people need to realise with Rodri's replacement is it isn't just going to be just for this season then they're on the bench most weeks.

Rodri isn't going to be anywhere close to the same player for next season even if recovery goes as well as can be expected, he's going to take a season to get back to the level he was at, he cannot just be thrown back in and expected to play 60 games. He'll need to be eased in, will essentially be the backup DM next season in terms of minutes he can expect throughout the season so already that's 18 months being first choice when fit for any new signing.

That's more than enough time for anybody not to have to worry about their role long term. Nobody we look at will have any reason to be concerned about playing time.

He said he regretted not moving to Liverpool. I think he changed his mind on the prospect of moving to England.
