Done well hasn't he? certainly made me eat my words. In this last few weeks of the season he's come on leaps and bounds and been a fantastically consistent performer. And as others have pointed out he's a footballing defender who looks to set things moving from the back. Huge credit to him.

He already has been great at Malaga. He has not been the last months at Bayern - but that had to do a lot with the system they played then - no defender looks really good when you let them make 1vs1 with skilled forwards especially when the forward can take up speed.

There's something about this lad I really like.

He's stepped into the breach for us and will thoroughly deserve his winner's medal at the end of the season.

The abuse he was getting at the time was something terrible.
