For me he's as good a player as Kolarov. Not a good defender but a good player. That's it.
He offers nothing in defence that Alex doesn't.
You'll have to explain that double negative in the last sentence mate. I think the 10k posts has gone to your head.

Or over yours?

Hansen is deluded for pointing out that Demichelis dives in way too often? Any city fan who doesn't recognise this huge flaw in his game is deluded IMO.
It's a bigger flaw when you get caught in possession and it leads to a goal. Let's not crucify the guy before he's actually created a genuine problem eh?
Those highlights were bollocks compared to what went on in the complete game,
It's not just today's game though, if you can be arsed looking through this thread I've said it for weeks. It's a huge flaw in his game. He has got away with it generally so far but at some point it's going to cost us. I sincerely hope he drops to the bench once nastasic is back but I suspect he's pellegrini's first choice, sadly.

-- Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:36 am --

Kompany and Demichelis are both 'guilty' of diving in to intercept, as that is how we are set up to play. When they nick it, we have the opposition wide open to attack, when we lose it, and both players are occasionally culpable, we're naturally vulnerable.
I accept what you're saying to a point but the problem I have with demichelis is that way too often he dives in when he has no chance of nicking the ball which regardless of the way we are set up to play is just poor decision making that can do little other than leave us needlessly exposed. At times it looks like some kind of mania with him where he thinks staying on his feet and jockeying is not even an option. He is just an absolute calamity waiting to happen IMO. Everyone else seems to think he's the bee's knees though so maybe I'm wrong.
It's the hair isn't it? ;-)
Haha, no I'm not influenced by his hair. If I judged players on their hair I'd rate Garcia much more highly.

Don't think he's the 'bee's knees', but his passing is second only to Kompany, as a central defender, and we just have to accept that his impetuosity may leave us open at the back. Can only imagine they have been instructed to play thus and that Kompany will be detailed to mark Suarez, much as he did against Rooney.

Maybe you should be influenced by the style Pellegrini wants us to play, one where our CB's win the ball high up the pitch and send us on the attack, its part of the reason we have scored 79 goals this season.

Great post, its how Pellegrini wants us to play, some would like more 0-0's though.
I'm all for attacking football but we are playing a really attacking formation which leaves the defence exposed, we often have the full backs flying forward, I don't think expecting the two central defenders and the goal keeper to try to generally focus on defending makes me some kind of boring **** who wants to see 0-0 draws. Should I want us to play fly goalie as well?

I've already answered that. I accept that the manager has asked them to win the ball early and high up but that doesn't make diving in when you have no chance or virtually no chance of winning the ball good defending. That isn't playing to a system, it's just poor decision making. He still has to be selective about trying to win the ball which is what I'd say vk does.

Why not ;o)

I'm just pointing out that this is what the manger wants, and after 26 games our players are still getting their head round what he wants, but recent form suggests we are nearly there.

I really don't understand why people don't "get it", what is not to like about we'll score twice as many as you do ? Not to mention goals from almost every position but keeper.

MD had a good game today, he's a very good footballer (ignore the ignorant hansen), he does what is asked by the manager, "get us attacking", there will be the odd mistake obviously, but Silva was the cause of one of Fulham's goals today (no slagging him though), trying to create a goal for us, shit happens, especially when you have such an attacking way to play.

We're scoring much earlier this season as well, as the early quick ball is forcing a higher tempo. 23 goals scored in the PL first half of matches already, compared with 26 in the entire last season.
