It's really not hard to grasp. It's Kompany's mistake which came first and his was much much worse, he is at least 5 or 6 yards behind everyone else. If he does his task Demichellis is never put in a position where he has a split second to decide what to do.

If Hart spills a simple shot and then a defender fouls an attacker chasing the rebound, whose fault is it primarily? Same applies here.

I'm sorry but playing someone onside is not worse than hacking someone down and getting yourself sent off. Never in a month of sundays. The mere fact you are even suggesting that voids your opinion straight away.

Playing someone onside is worse if you're doing it by been a good 5 or 6 yards behind the rest of your line. He's the captain ffs. It's a simple thing to do. Demichellis was tasked with trying to prevent the world's best player from getting a shot in.

Demichellis did not deliberately get sent off and take one for the team, he slid in because he believed he could win the ball.

Take your head out of Kompany's arse.

You take yours out of Demichelis'. I can't believe you're even trying to argue that playing someone onside (which by the way if you watch the replay is actually Messi's brilliant movement coming from an offside position to an onside position moments before the pass is played) is worse than Demichelis being an air headed idiot and trying to slide tackle a player he couldn't catch if he was driving a car. He fucked up big time (not the first time he has made a costly mistake this season btw) and is now rightly getting criticised for it.

Hahaha, genuinely laughed. Incredible. Messi's incredible movement is the reason Kompany, and Kompany alone, was 6 yards behind every other defender? This incredible movement didn't seem to confuse Zaba, Demichellis or Clichy did it as they all held their line fine.

If you want to blame Kompany who played out of his skin tonight then you are more than entitled to do so but don't act so shocked that DM is getting so much shit for one of the worst defensive decisions I've seen in a long long time. The facts are Kompany will still be playing CB for us next season while your mate DM will be cleaning the boots.

Is that you Roberto and hows the weather in Turkey at the moment.

Thought he played well until the sending off. Lescott looked shit scared whenever the ball game near him, after a while our own player chose any option but to give it him.

Fact is Kompany should have been urgently trying to get back in line with the rest of the defense, Messi wouldn't have been able to do what he did if it wasn't for Kompany's poor positional play. He was brilliant tonight but it was his fault that Messi got through one on one.

Kompany was immense tonight, never claimed otherwise and is twice the player Demichellis ever was. But quite simply the penalty largely came about because of Kompany's positioning.

One of the worst defensive decisions you've seen? It was poorly timed and out of desperation, nice bit of exaggeration though.

prior to demi getting sent off . 90% of the time when he got the ball he kicked it to a barc player!!

La Liga team of the season 2012-13. Demichellis is in it.

"The veteran Argentina international, 32, might be in the latter stages of his career, but he has been an inspiration for Malaga this season. Until their post-Champions League meltdown, the Andalusian club boasted the second-best defensive record in La Liga, and Demichelis's steady consistency was the main reason why.
Did you know? Only one player won possession with more tackles than Demichelis in La Liga 2012-13 (76)."
He's not in La Liga anymore

This guy could do the same vs Sunderland in League cup or any big league game that could win or cost us the title...

No, but he got in a team of the season playing under Pellegrini, people are acting like the decision to sign him was ludicrous. He obviously is a very good defender who is just struggling to settle but that hasn't stopped a portion of our fans jumping on every mistake and writing him off at every opportunity.

And not our boots, hopefully.

Seriously, I have nothing against MDM personally and I thought he did OK ish against Chelsea in a DM role despite all the shit he got. But it's plain we have some players who can take us to the next level and some who will keep us at the previous level and I am afraid MDM is one of the latter.

Putting the blame on Vinny.

He had a good season last season. Doesn't mean he's having one this season or that he did when Bayern decided to sell him because they felt he wasn't good enough for them anymore.

Again, I've never really argued against this. My points are Pellegrini shouldn't really be criticised for signing him and that Kompany's mistake was the one most responsible for us conceding the opening goal today.

Of course there will always be the likes of yourself eager to deflect from his mistakes
