Mary D's

To add - miss the Bank of England - now that was a shithole with character. Shame theres no real boozers with character round the Etihad like the Osborne and Gardners back at Maine Rd

I was Mary D’s biggest fan for years too. I took a Juve fan in there for Celtic home last season and he loved it. Never seen a place like that in his life.

The Manchester (or whatever it is called now) has improved. They’ve spent money on it.
Same here i took a couple of mates there who are big liverpool fans before a champs league match. They thought is was great and wished they had something similar at anfield.

They probably did until their club bought it and left it boarded up.

The Holts’ pubs further up are also nice enough. The Grove, Halfway and Buxton amongst others.

Agreed, and Mitchell Arms as well, but Osborne and Gardners.....................class boozers pre and post match

He still has it apparently but recently gave up Kehoes/Baldy Bob’s according to my mate who was a regular in there.

Always kicked off a lot in Kehoes, and lad I went to school with died after a fight outside. Not sure if that was when it closed for good, but it did at some point in the 90's .... has just stood empty since. Didn't know he had let Baldy Bobs go though ..... is it still open?

Used to enjoy it as it was quite unique in the sense that not many places generated the same atmosphere as the back room.
Whenever I'd take neutrals with me, they'd love it for the same reasons.
However, the novelty wears off pretty quick and I would find myself in Eastlands (Queen Vic) more often than not.

Townley or City Square these days.

I enjoy it in Mary Ds. Loads of good Blues and a decent atmosphere. It’s great that you can take your fish and chips in before midweek games too.

I can understand people whose main priority is the quality of the beer or price going elsewhere. That said, the beer in and around the stadium is worse IMHO

Last two DJ’s have been awful DJ ‘ozkat and DJ Chaos’ give me a break.

Beer is shite, stuck in the 80’s, crowded and Munich songs.
Could think of nowt worse. Glad I’ve not been in there for a decade+
