They don't. It has deepened the irrationality of the market. The prohibition has increased costs, exacerbated the proliferation of third parties, and increased opportunities for graft. It has had precisely the opposite effect intended (at least what was publicly stated). It has failed of its essential purpose, as has the EPL etc. when it was claimed it would increase the talent-pool available for the national team. Has it? No. They lie. Just like FFP is a lie. They are not simply making mistakes. If it was simply a matter of incompetence they'd sometimes get it right.

I've not logged in here for a very long time. But I have now because I wanted to commend the excellence of this person's contribution. Hurrah to you.

He's only on the fringes now because of Mourinho, who I'd agree with Lancet intended to do that before he'd even walked through the door. How many of these "assists" and goals led to anything meaningful ? Because I remember them knocked out of th CL (Behind Shakhtar not Madrid).. I also seem to remember us ripping them apart on almost every game.

I didn't see them challenging for title... Mata is a very talented player but his tactical & deffensive weaknesses make him a player nowhere near the level that a PL winning squad needs in their starting line up.

There were all sorts of reasons why they haven't challenged for the league for a few years but personally I really don't think Mata was one of those reasons. Wasn't he part of their Champions League winning team?

I wouldn't have a transfer window so that transfers can happen at any time but with one restriction. After 15 league games, no transfers would be allowed until after the season end.

Also, loanees should be allowed to play against their home club.

Lastly, any player who has featured in any capacity and in more than 7 games for any club cannot be sold within the season to another club in the same league.

Well he's won the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions league whilst he's been there, so nothing big I suppose, but I get your point. I understand why he's been dropped, but would we suddenly not challenge for the title if we swapped him with Silva or Nasri? I doubt it. He's been in a largely mish mash Chelsea side and still has two honours to his name that none of our squad do (at City at least).

Personally I don’t agree that the player can go from one team to another team in the same league at this part of the year but rules are rules and he can change clubs.
