Matthijs de Ligt

With Gomes at Liverpool you'd think they'd pass but I agree, would instantly improve them. Already have a damn good defense.

After seeing Barca crumble and Ajax as it wound up today... You'd think he'd like his chances at City better than Barca.

He definitely does not strike me as a shortsighted person rather someone who loves the history of a club and as most are long aware, the Dutch/Catalan link plays very big between the two cultures

Can you elaborate ? Do you mean he won't come to city if this is a criterion ?

Defense is still our weakest link. Has been for many seasons. Move earth for DeLite, Rodri for Oats (not like for like I get it), settle the backup at RB. In other news if Gund wants out get Bruno and what the hell flip Jesus for Felix.

Has Deligt done anything in particular as a defender, which makes him essential to us ?

Great on the ball, nice build, very promising, but not an improvement, currently.

all the above and being captain at 19 is a great quality in itself , despite having experienced players in Tadic , Blind etc.

He could become one of the best, or 'the' best, cb around.

But if he does, the 2nd & 3rd best might be Laporte & Stones. And Harwood Bellis might then be better than all of them. Then we have Garcia.

If money was no object, I would sign him immediately, but imo if we do sign him in the current situation, it means Pep doesn't trust John Stones.

Snippets emerging that he wants to play in the Prem......I'm not sure we could offer him the game time though, and he would also very definitely block the progress of our own.

Potential mate and bags of it mate that's the score with him and under Pep he could be a world beater.

Or that he just wants the best possible young CB to replace a departing Otamendi.

Indeed.

But when Stones was fit earlier in the season, we had the best two cbs in Europe, both way better than him.

We have several positions need filling.

Doesn't make sense to sign him, unless it's to.play def mid, imo.
