Media bias against City

Listened to David James on the link posted earlier in this thread. I don't think he said anything that bad personally. However, and I haven't read the full report, but seeing what what he said in the gossip page on City's website, that did annoy me.

Whether we like it or not, we did stumble over the line for both our title wins. We haven't (yet) won a title convincingly (like Chelsea did last season), and I think that it is fair enough to point this out, considering the talent we have at the club. I don't think saying that belittles our title wins in any way, but I do think it would be great if we were to have a season whereby we were "convincing" winners.

That's not to say that for either of our title wins we weren't WORTHY winners - we were, without doubt.
stumbled over the line ????? that's not stumbling, united and Liverpool stumbled we kept our nerve .how the fuck any blue could agree with that shit is beyond me

Maybe it's just me, but I think you're attaching too much negativity to a comment where there doesn't need to be any at all. We did stumble over the line in the sense that it took us 2 injury time goals to beat QPR, when at the start of that game I doubt there would have been anyone who would have envisaged us needing such a scenario in order to win the league, and for our last title win, we snatched it from Liverpool who (yes, as you rightfully pointed out, weren't able to keep their nerve and because of that pretty much handed it to us on a plate).

For both our title wins, I will maintain that we were worthy winners, we did deserve the title over the course of the season, but we didn't win the title in a convincing fashion (in the sense of winning it with points to spare or with games to spare.

That load of old wank pre-supposes that we had any element of control over what our rivals did. We may have 'only' won the title in 2012 on goal difference, but nonetheless also did so with the 6th highest points total ever recorded. We could not legislate for the way the rags pushed us, and frankly I would expect this 'limped over the line' bollocks from cerebrally challenged knuckle draggers like Camelgob, not Blues

No one ever has any control over what other teams do. So that's a pointless comment right off the bat. And one that doesn't negate in any way the point that I made.

I never said we "limped over the line". Interesting that you have to use a different word (with a different meaning) in order to challenge my point.

The problem here seems to be that people (such as yourself and peacefrog) have a problem with anyone saying something that could possibly be interpreted as being negative, when in fact what is actually being said isn't negative at all.

I've said it twice before (in both my posts) and I'll say it a third time again (because it seems to be being ignored) - we were worthy winners of both our titles. We deserved them both (the team who finishes top always does).

Whoever wins the title there is always someone who 'loses' it. Every season teams will look back and think 'if only' they'd not let a two goal lead slip at home to Spurs or 'if only' they'd not lost at Hull etc etc. That's the nature of football, it's unpredictable, and 99 times out of 100 the team that wins deserves to win. David James' comments were crass, ill informed and reeked of pandering to someone's pre-determined agenda, either that or the guys just a complete tool. We didn't 'stumble' over any finishing line, the players were trying to win their first title for 44 years and so, understandably, were under some pressure but when the time came to deal with that pressure they did and produced one of the great sporting moments ever.

Here we are again - people assuming that the word stumble is a negative comment. It isn't. It's a factual comment, and you Bozzie have pretty much just inferred why. The players were trying to win a title for a club that hadn't won a title in 44 years, and so they felt the pressure. That they overcame this pressure and won the title is a credit to them. It's a credit that they were able to find two injury time goals to produce a moment that will go down in history.

You just can't get past your own perceived perception of the word stumble! We didn't sprint past the finishing line, leaving all our competitors in our wake. That simply did not happen. That it didn't happen for our two recent title wins (and indeed our last title win before that) isn't a slight on us, it's just a statement of fact. It's understandable, given the circumstances that you point out, why it did happen. Yet despite effectively agreeing with it (and offering up reasons why it was the case) you still take umbrage at the mere suggestion that it was what actually happened.

You seem to have your head up your own arse. And can't stand it when anything that has even the mere hint of negativity is mentioned in the same breath as the word City.

I'm probably not going to make any friends with my last few comments, but the replies I've had to my last few comments just reek of paranoia and an inability to at least attempt to try and objectively understand what is actually being said.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. How to make friends and influence people.

First PL title win we got 89 points.
Most other years that would be a 'convincing' title win. Ferguson just managed to squeeze out every last ounce of sweat and luck out of an inferior team.

David James thinks we will finish out of the top 4 and that our model isn't the correct way to go.
I'd rather call him out for being a **** on that evidence, the stumbling over the line part isn't important.

You're probably not going to make friends - at least you got that bit right, though I guess after 11 posts in 4 years that won't bother you too much.
