He fell down the pecking order towards the back end of the 11-12 season. Can't remember if he dropped a clanger or Mancini fancied zabaleta more at the time.

I hope he gets back to the standard where he was at for us as he seems like a decent guy and deserves a good run in a premier league team.He looked alright today but not the standard where we need to be unfortunalty.

He got injured and mancini brought Zabba in. That was with 6 games to go. Mancini decided to keep the same starting 11 for the final 5 games.

Been away for a few days, so apologies if already mentioned, but did anyone see The Telegraph's "Five things we learned about the Charity Shield"? One of the points, ostensibly about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, was devoted almost entirely to slagging off Raheem Sterling:

"If Raheem Sterling is worth £49 million, what price Oxlade-Chamberlain, who gave a timely reminder of the outstanding talent that sets him apart from England’s other wingers? Not only did he terrorise one of the country’s best full-backs with his pace and skill, he had an end product to go with it– something that cannot always be said of Sterling – and scored a brilliant goal to boot. Over to you Raheem."

This was a game not even involving City, ffs.

Guess what point one of The Telegraph's things we learnt from Stoke City vs Liverpool was?

That "Coutinho is far more important than Sterling ever was", of course.

"His goal here came from nowhere, and there are sure to be a fair few more of them this season. Sterling might not have supplied such magic."

He hasn't even kicked a ball competitively for City yet, but remains the focal point for criticism in games involving other teams. Incredible.

My recollection of the 11-12 season was we started great with the fullbacks getting a lot of joy especially Micah making powerful runs into the box or out wide and front flipping over any defender stupid enough to leave a leg trailing. We got found out about Christmas time and opposition full backs stopped following our fullbacks out wide and simply waited for the cross into the box to the mostly midgets we had in there. Zabs was the more tactically aware and disciplined so was bought in to keep things tight when we changed tactics and probably Micah got injured :( could be wrong though as that season is mostly shaped by the aguero moment.

In terms of the press reaction it was mostly positive immediately following but by the time the following season started the narrative had become that we should have won it easily with the squad we have and I even remember the French guy from football weekly claiming we won it despite Mancini rather than give any credit to him.

In any event 99% of City fans remember Micahs time with us with a great deal of fondness but it's pretty clear he's no longer a good fit for our squad and he's too good to sit on our bench (plus he always needed a few games to get his form back). Also I think he said he preferred playing right back as opposed to centre half because it meant he didn't have to concentrate as much :)

more like disgraceful like ric has stated sterling hasn't even kicked a ball for us in a competitive game yet...

saw a poster for Sky Sports at Stockport train station and I stopped to look in amusement as it had a few club badges floating around, I am pretty sure it had United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Totenham and a couple of others like Norwich and Newcastle but no City badge :(

Cech is the biggest example of media bias for me.

He's been on a downward spiral ever sign the Hunt incident and in recent years has made some howlers.

Stick a lesser defence in front of him and he'll be exposed even more.

Laughable that it's lauded as a great deal. £7/8m whatever it is Chelsea got is amazing.

He'll be the worst transfer of the summer.

Bump.

Cech has been awful in recent years. Baffling how he has been heralded as a great signing and the difference between Arsenal being average and league winners.
