BBC encouraging the narrative that the champions league is different this year (why, well probably because we won it).

Posting stuff like this. We ruin everything for everybody and I fucking love it.

"Two legged champions league ties are more focused on generating money, than much entertainment. Dull. One-off knock out would be much better."
George, Birmingham

"For some reason, the champions league just doesn't feel the same this year."
Mie, Surrey

"Might be as a United fan that I would say this, but the Champions League feels to me like it’s lost its aura. Maybe the attempts for a super league undermining it or the decline of some of Europes legacy clubs in recent years making it less competitive. Has lost abit of its shine for me."
Michael, Manchester

For fans of 'legacy clubs' like Michael, their fandom was linked to the expectation of them constantly being in the mix for European success, fans of other clubs that moan about the CL are of a certain vintage and are nostalgic for those Sky Sports over-hyped Super Sundays, and European nights under the lights at decrepit English stadiums.

They're the equivalent of FOCs moaning about new music, they just associate those Champions League games of the early to mid-2000s with their youth.

The BBC live text updates are followed by these types of fans.

I get it to an extent. I used to always look back at Italia 90 as the best World Cup, I'd link it to a long summer off school, the type of picture colour on the TV, Nessun Dorma, great looking kits, Roger Millar dancing in the corner. The reality is, the tournament was a big bag of shite.

The last time the Rags won the champions league Motorola were the biggest selling mobile phone, Apple were still on the IPhone 1 & 6m units were sold worldwide, since then 2.32billion iPhones have been sold.

The world doesn’t stand still…… what was the most successful in 2008 isn’t likely to be in 2024.

The press narrative, the fans narrative that the cl is now boring or has lost its aura or that the pl has lost its competitiveness or that city play boring football or whatever bullshit they come up with today can be summed up in one single sentence and that is:

We dont like it because we aren't winning.

All the other things around it are simply there to justify their crybaby bullshit.

Read that yesterday..made me laugh

Typical red top fans bemoaning the setup of the CL cos they are nowhere near reaching a final - bar the dippers

Narrative and agenda setting once again by the red-biased media

But it doesn't stop the media jizzing their loads over utd winning at Villa Park on sunday, taking the rags within 5 pts of a Champions league place.
They say its shit and boring now that we've won it yet are boned up over the fact that the rags have an outside chance of qualifying for it.
It's that shit that Gary Neville was calling Sunday's Villa game a must win for utd.
Why are the rags and raggy media so desperate to get into such a boring shit competition I wonder.

Oh Michael…… you little whopper

Maybe it is because united are shit and finished bottom of a group they thought they would qualify from.
