Previewing tomorrow’s game in the Mail, some journo writes of Rice that he has “established himself as one of Arteta’s big game players, a leader with the rare force of personality to lift those around him”

In Arsenal’s two big games this season Rice was subbed at HT as his team struggled to an unconvincing draw at home v Spurs and then played the full 90 mins as Arsenal failed their first serious CL test losing away to Lens.

Let’s hope Declan uses his rare force of personality to lift Arsenal’s players to similar heights in tomorrow’s big game.

In the televised match on TNT Sports this afternoon, James Maddison was named checked by the commentator as one of the best signings this Summer (fairy nuff). Without skipping a beat, Jermaine Jenar$e piped up that Declan Lice had to be considered in that list.

Similar to a comment in the 3pm games when a pundit stated that M.Gashfoot getting subbed off early would be met by disapproving boos by the Old Scaffold fans.

Instead, Gashfoot trudged off to ironic cheers, after another wretched game.

These TV pundits are so protective of their favourites no matter how poor they are playing or turning their ordinary performances into the world class category.

It is so bizarre the way the media seem determined to hype up Rice at every opportunity when he plays against a pub team in a meaningless England game or for Arsenal. He just looks an average player. Solid in a sort of James Milner way but nowhere near a great player. Not in the same league as Odegaard for example and not as good as Ward Prowse who replaced him at West Ham. Rice may develop into an elite player at some point but doesn't have the potential of Bellingham (who has also been overhyped).

Surely all this means is he’ll get a pay up & regurgitate his 1 article as a free lancer. He’ll keep popping up like a bad smell.
Aye.

Probably get a couple of gigs on Talkshite slagging us off whist pissed up on the graveyard shift.
