Haaland’s hates Manchester and is going to Real Madrid.

And Pep is going back to Barcelona.

More bullshit from the Spanish press and now Marca.

It’s hard to believe the Spanish tabloid press is worse than the British tabloid press, but they are.

I think Pep alluded to it last week, when Xavi announced he was leaving, about how the pressures are much worse in Spain and that will be mainly down to the press and peoples insatiable appetite for news on Barca and Madrid.

Its why I think Pep will never go back there and as he has also managed in Germany, besides International mgmt and possibly Italy I don’t see many routes he would choose to follow. It keeps me optimistic we might see another contract extension.

Currently, when I look around at the ETIHAD everyone seems to be either 55+ or younger than 25.

Unfortunately for City, that middle demographic contains the vast majority of mortgage payers, Sky subscribers, and Talksport Listeners, so when Neville and Carragher perpetuate the myth that historically United-Liverpool has always been the biggest fixture, nobody ever contradicts or asks why the Busby Babes never played a First Division fixture at Anfield.
It's almost as though the universal hatred of Don Revie's DIRTY LEEDS never really happened.

Unfortunately for United, that demographic bias will gradually shift, and reflect in a far more balanced coverage, particularly where City are concerned.

Yes, I dont think you are far off there but I would say late 40s than mid 50s. I always remember a newspaper article circa 1998/99 describing us as a club ‘for the lads’ as most of our fanbase appeared to be early/mid 20s. I think that resulted in us, during our darkest hour, having a very passionate following (for good and bad) as well as a great away following. Put it this way I don't think the second half against Stoke 98/99, where the fans were galvanised and the direction of the club changed, would happen today. Most would still be stood in the concourse now.

BBC United - Mediacity, which is just another football media outlet, jumping on the made up story from Spain about Haaland not being happy in Manchester. And here’s me thinking like everyone else they know it’s a made up story, so they‘d decide not to run with it, but oh no. Rag c*nts!

More fake news paid for by our taxes

Yes I think mid 40s is the sweetspot for misery supporting City. Born the year of the league cup final and too young to remember the 81 final, all we had was a few crushing quarter final cup defeats up to our mid 30s.
and unlike me you were probably hugely outnumbered by rags.

I started Secondary School in 1975 and there were 9 City fans, 5 rags, 1 Liverpool, and 1 Derby County in my form.

Our young fans were fantastic when we were losing at Newcastle and got us over the line v Spurs. We can still do it when we need to.

Rag media shit sturring again with Haaland, It's Funny that it's always the Manchester weather and lifestyle that the Manchester City players don't like, But the United players are happy with everything because it's sunny and warm in Trafford and the nightlife is better than the Las Vegas strip, just ask Rashford he's loving the nightlife I heard
so funny because apart from starting career in norway he's played in sultry hotbeds of summer sunshine of dortmund and salzburg
so funny and embarrassing

Yeah its funny because I never really noticed it until I started secondary school. The part of Hyde I lived was a staunch blue area but going to school in another town you then noticed you were part of the minority. Late 80, early 90s we were struggling to match Oldham fans, who defected from supporting United.

Ironically when I started going out and to the local pubs there was a generation 3/5 years older than me who were predominantly blues. So it was back to having at least equal numbers, but definitely massively out numbering the reds for actual match going fans.

I was born the day before the League Cup Final. Vaguely remember 81, and the tears. Was there for Pleat and more tears. Pretty much went down hill from there.

Least i can laugh about it now ;(

I was born 2 months after the 76 cup final. My dad went to the 81 final, and made sure my mum sat me in front if the tele, but I cannot sadly remember it.

Even relegation in 83, I cannot remember. But I have just got lost in my local woods today so Im clearly not the sharpest tool, which sort of explains me failing to remember David Pleat antics. 83/84 was my first match memory, Derek Parlane my first hero. But yes it was a long 30 years.

Yes not knocking them, it just seemed the whole ground was involved that day. Not just smaller sections and the ground seemed to have a much larger percentage of younger fans.

It was a pivotal moment. I went to York, Wrexham, but that Stoke match was a sea change. At least the second half. You are right that our support was at a peak during the rise with Keegan and Royle. But our away fans have been amazing since the 70s and can still compete with anyone in my view.

Funny how shit Manchester is for football. Only last season marca reporter and madrid players said our support was the loudest they had heard. Funny I don’t remember what the weather was like that night

Surely the sweetspot incorporates all the shite.

That is a very valid point. No doubt it resulted in the highs feeling that bit sweeter.

Funny though I would struggle to remember any quarter final victory on the way to our fa cup victories but I still regularly think about losing to Spurs in 93.

Completely agree about our away fans. The support has always been up there, both in terms of numbers and noise, with the very best. Bristol away in the cup last year was a case in point. There owns fans stated we had the best away following they had seen in 25 years.

I think its more a generational thing than unique to City. We talk about early leavers nowadays but in the 80s/90s the singing started on the terraces at 1:30pm for the big matches and especially if it was a big match like a derby/cup game etc. Nowadays there is so much choice and time seems more precious for people, not just football but in general life we don't allocate the same amount of time to things. I include myself in this.,
