Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

This thread is to discuss the unfair treatment he is receiving from the press,of which there can be no argument otherwise.
Which no one will argue, it’s side tracked to general talk about England etc though. Close the thread then as we will all be in agreement he doesn’t get a fair ride in the media.
But there only appears to be one person expanding the thread to his England performances, and that's you. You've mentioned your criticism of his personal "failings" in the player section, which is where most of these posts from you on this thread should be redirected. As @FantasyIreland has pointed out, this is about his treatment by the media, which even you accept is unfair.
Whilst the media continue to criticise his personal life in the way they do, the thread needs to be kept open to bring their outpourings to a wider audience, as I, personally, gave up reading newspapers several years ago, and this is the only way I get to hear about it.
Feel free to keep up your criticism of his footballing shortcomings, but in the correct forum, not this one.
It's getting boring.

You are getting all confused. You are saying that he has had great season for City so has to do it for England. The reason he had a great season for City was has playing well with other great players who could pass to him where he needed the ball or were in the right areas when he crossed the ball. As I have explained with England he does not play with Sane Aguero Jesus Silva Silva

I dont want any England player to play under pressure, that pressure caused by our media have caused players to freeze in the past. I want every England player to play to the best of his ability unfortunately for Raz noNe of his England teammates are a patch on his club's teammates and that is a huge difference to enabling him to play to the level that he has reached this season

There has been a clamour for Rashford to play instead of Sterling and the moment that Raz cocks one thing up that clamour will be deafening.

I dont comment on indivual players in their threads as I look at the team play as a whole and for City the team has been unbelievable until England produce a midfield of Silva Silva Sane Fernandinho and KDB quality England will rarely see the very best of any of its forwards let alone Raz but thats not what the media want to discuss how much easier to pick on oe scapregoat and make him the focus of all that is wrong with English football and English footballers

You are now saying that all players have to produce which is correct so why did you single Raz out as saying he "has" to perform why didnt you just say that the team has to perform?
your last two posts were very good but wasted on the target audience unfortunately, who will ignore every point you made.

That is completely contradictory to everyone who defends him and is why I get so frustrated on here. If I ever say he plays badly the response is, did he score? Look at his numbers and no one can have an actual conversation about his gameplay. Bournemouth away being an example he was fucking dreadful but scores a last minute important winner. No one will say how shite he was that day, numbers cloud every judgement.

His numbers for England are shocking in comparison to his club but then gameplay is brought into it because stats can’t back people up. Can’t have it both ways. If numbers is his defence for city then that’s what you compare to for England.

Who says these other players don’t have to perform? This forum has bigged Sterling up al season, how he’s better than every other Englishmen but now it comes to a point to prove it and you want someone like Lingard having the same pressure? Isn’t fair is it to say Sterling is miles better than most of the squad but you want everyone else to peform to the same level. There’s pressure created by his own fantastic season. Nothing more. Every player needs to produce in their own way not just Sterling.
Thought you were going to get butchered from your post a couple of pages back,so i am not surprised.
you quoted Sterling`s 2 goals in so many games for England as compared to his city goals and suggested that his performances reflected that , but in the last group game Sterling and Rashford played neither scored both had 3 shots Rashford had one on target, Sterling all three crap as they were but on target Rashford created no chances for anyone else, Sterling created four including a great one on one for Rashford to mess up, Sterling was subbed at around the 60 minute mark, And then the press butchered Sterling while praising Rashford calling him` exciting `the new buzz word for `did nowt`.
A hundred and ninety pages later we do not need bringing back into balance it is way too late

The buzz word for did nout when referring to sterling is “looking dangerous” just for balance :)

I've now read that 4 times and still don't understand your point.

Had a guy at my house at the weekend who coached Sterling as a kid. He said he had loads of problems with ADHD as a nipper and wasn't a standout player until he hit 13-14, when he suddenly blossomed.

Not huge news, although I wondered how the ADHD affected his perception of and reaction to the criticism he gets.

hope he has a great game and tournament in general....regardless of how afar England go

That's interesting. More credit to Pep for the obvious time and effort he has out in to working 1 to 1 with him. Maybe he has identified that is what the lad needs to focus him; if so all credit to him
