Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

still think Sterling is on to a loser, he cannot win in this scenario. Just to keep the city-hate press off his back he has to out-perform everyone else in the England team. Anything less and they will be out for him.

This is my issue with the media

Because our England players have won things with Man City they must recreate that form for England as I have seen Andy Dunn has done a piece on Stones thereby making him the scapegoat if England concede

When will people realise that passing to Sane Fernandinho KDB Silva Silva is not the same as passing to Henderson Lingard Alli Kane and that therefore you cannot expect the same results

All I hope is that the City lads do the best they can with the players that they have around them

Did you have the same view when it was Rooney underperforming in tournaments, as a nation we all wanted him to reproduce his United form? No one said then get off his back he has Giggs, Ronaldo, Scholes supplying him at United and Gareth Barry and co for England. Sterling aside the City boys have set a marker, of course it is different to the national team however when you have a record breaking season people expect more form you.

You do love bringing United players into pretty much every conversation don't you.

Until recently Englands best players were United players. My point still stands we are sensitive that people expect our record breaking players to actually play well. How dare they.

Still waiting on the positive posts you say you did about him during the season
Perhaps you should start your own thread about how you don't rate him so we can read about the media in here
Just a thought

My last few points weren't even about Sterling to the point I said Sterling aside, If you can't read them properly then i don't expect you to find my positive posts about the lad so don't worry about it.

I have read all the posts since last night, you said again about these positive posts during the season and i've asked you twice about them now,it would be more honest if you just said you don't rate the lad and be done with it and we can get back to the media about him

Not just united players either. Lampard and Gerrard were regularly slaughtered when they were performing for club but not country. Goes with the territory of being successful and isn’t anything new or exclusive to our players.

Look Tom you have failed to address any of the points that I countered your arguments with as was pointed out in this thread you would

You keep harping on about the same points but failing to understand the major differences with how the medias treated the players like Rooney and Sterling. Do you not remember the pray for Rooney escapade when he was injured. He was Englands best player at the time. However ehenever he had the ball the commentators would scream "Rooooney" and he was completely blameless when England failed. I cannot remember Rooney ever being criticised in the media for his England performances not matter how bad he was. Indeed after the Iceland game despite only playing 60 minutes it was Sterling who got all the flak not Rooney

What I am pointing out is that the media have already decided who will cop it, no matter how well or badly they play as individuals, should England fail in this tournament it will be Stones and Sterling in the firing line.
