Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Deep down we all knew this was coming. If not sterling, stones or walker were next.
I recall John Barnes receiving the same treatment whenever he pulled on and England Shirt, its horrible to see and read as deep down were not stupid we all know what is driving this.
My disclaimer is that I ma protective when it comes to sterling, but if he has had a bad game or in a bad run of form I have been equally called him out for it.
What riles me is when half the England team have been poor but it is sterling's performance that is highlighted above others, or of he has had a good game this is disparaged or overlooked because he has not scored a hat trick.
He is still relatively a young man, international football wise, but he is wealthy many times over.
I really do wonder if over the next few years should this campaign continue, whether he ever considers the shite he unfairly gets is worth it.
To be honest it may well be worth it given the endorsements he must be pulling in as an England international, but I think it comes at a price to him personally and possibly his family.

Sterling who have to score the winner in the final to turn other fans onside.

Last night I watched the game in Croatia. Usual holiday mix of fans. Spurs, Leeds, Coventry and a Scot who turned up in his Scotland shirt who followed Airdrie. Yes rags also.

When sterling was subbed a round of applause broke out yet by no stretch was he the worst player.

Fair play to spurs lot they said Alli was way worse.

It summed it up for me though.

There was less of a groan when rashford dummied the ball and also does not pass quick enough.

I made sure they knew my thoughts on their golden boy

The scapegoating on Raheem is bizarre, especially from some blues.

He doesn't play anywhere near as good for country as he does for club, but who does?! England are garbage, have been for years, and are coached by morons who haven't a clue.

Even Kane, who is one of the best strikers in one of the best leagues, struggles comparatively for England, especially in tournament football.

Five at the back against a team with no ambition, giving away such a soft penalty because you are playing the best right back in the league last season out of position. Yet all that is spoken about is Raheem, all the criticism goes his way, I find myself wincing now every time he gives it away or doesn't score a chance because I know that is all they will discuss, during the game, then at half time, then again at full time, and after the game, and overnight, and the next day...

If he played for any other nation, he would be seen as the star player, or certainly the potential star in the making as he is only young, (well maybe not Germany if they left Sane out!) but for England he will be replaced by a rag who played about three minutes last season and had one good game against the dippers who basically gets applauded for doing the same, if not worse, for England than someone who scored 18 league goals last season.

The scrutiny he is under, for such a young lad, is a fucking disgrace

BBC sport headline right now; 'Lots of Positives for England but Sterling must Improve'. Followed by McNulty saying, 'Lingard is usually assured in front of goal and can still be relied on but there is no escaping the brutal truth that Sterlings record is wretched and must improve soon'.
I mean, what the actual fuck was he watching last night. And Lingard has 1 goal (in a friendly) in 13 apps over 3 years. Hpow the fuck is that 'assured'? Wanker.

Its a joke i could not get my head around Lingard wearing 7 thought it was Sterling, so effectively the number 7 shirt was dreadful last night yet Sterling carry's the can.

I have really gone passed caring, as long as the plays for us could not care what he does for England

I wonder what Alison Rudd made of his performance............

He'd always be shooting instead of passing to players in a better position, great striker not so great team player. If you think he's better than Kun or Jesus then fine it's your opinion, but not one shared by many on here i'd guess.
Probably not - but shared by most at work and a lot of regulars I go to City with.
Not denegrating the incredible service we've had from Kun - a true legend in every sense. Talking purely about now.
Jesus? I really don't get it. Would like to. Pep clearly does and that's all that counts.
