Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

On the merit of the last game which any player should be judged on, then rashford(or vardy) and rose should come in and given the oportunity, but for lingard and young, as young was bad amd if you compare missed oppodrtunities amd performance lingard was worse than raheem.

I agree and if this is the case I am disappointed as I thought better of Southgate than that. It is also extremely risky if he is trying to utilise the squad as some like Gerrard say he should do. Very easy to take the opposition lightly and come unstuck, as we know. The media attitude to Sterling is beyond diabolical. That tool Dan Roan on BBC news last night was pushing the case for Rashford saying Sterling had a "poor" game on Monday which is another attempt to 're write history. Sterling was excellent on Monday.

Excellent, fuck me ive heard it all now.

One of the worst aspects of life in this country is the bullying culture of our tabloid media. The way Sterling has been savaged by most of the press, backed up by trolls on social media, legions of pub-watching football fans, and even a small minority on this forum, sickens me. For what it's worth I don't think it is an anti-City thing it's just that in England we always have to have a scapegoat. It's part of the national character.
The next one targeted after Sterling could be anyone..but my money is on Harry Maguire. He was attacked for a couple of misplaced passes in the middle of the field against Tunisia and got no praise for the assist for Kane's goal. I think he is a brilliant young player who would improve most defences. If it's not him they will go back to Stones.
