Anything from that women beating **** collymore yet .... always interesting hearing his views

I base it on the simple principle that penalties should be given for obstructing (unlawfully) a goal scoring opportunity. In this case, from what I remember, there was no way Otamendi would have got the ball even without the foul.

You might want to try actually reading the rules of football then, it kind of helps to know anything about the game you're passing commentary on.

My opinion was not based on the kind of foul, but about how far Otamendi was away from the ball.
Ok. Just to make this clear. If a corner is taken, and a goalkeeper at the opposite end of the pitch in his own penalty area strikes an opponent, whilst the ball is in play, the goalkeeper should concede a penalty.

I was wondering what Peter Walton was up to these days. That is one f**ked up way at looking at the rules of the game.

As simple as "your" principle may be that is not the letter of the law though, is it.

Taken from the FA Rules (http://www.thefa.com/football-rules...laws/football-11-11/law-14---the-penalty-kick) :

"A penalty kick is awarded if a player commits a direct free kick offence inside their penalty area or off the field as part of play as outlined in Laws 12 and 13."

Law 12 and 13:

http://www.thefa.com/football-rules.../football-11-11/law-12---fouls-and-misconduct

http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-13---free-kicks

Stonewall penalty and there would have been NOTHING harsh about giving it.

Yes, where the offence took place. He’d probably be sent off too.

Thanks for the links. Maybe, I don't recollect penalties given in similar instances where the foul is away from the ball in play.
