I don’t think that Radio 5 Live was ever billed as a dedicated sports channel. It was originally a ‘Youth’ channel but was soon reassigned as a combined rolling news and sports channel.
One of the problems at the BBC is that nepotism is so rife that the same people keep popping up across all the various TV and Radio outlets - so over time they just seem to merge into one….
