And had to carry a phone at school so his mum could tell him his new home address (it changed frequently) and what bus to get. I wouldn't begrudge a single thing the lad has because he really does know what it is to have nothing.

This is exactly why the Mail, Express, Sun, Star etc will denigrate him at every opportunity. The last thing those hate-mongers want to acknowledge is an immigrant making a go of life in his adopted country.

Their entire raison d'etre is to keep the working class (and swathes of the middle class) entertained with football and Reality TV and distracted by bogeymen (e.g. immigrants, "metropolitan elites" and of course, "faceless unelected European bureaucrats"). This they do whilst impressing upon us the implicit notion that we are simply not hardworking, god-fearing or patriotic enough to be worthy of the opportunities and lifestyle enjoyed by our betters.

Fair fucks to Raheem. Through sheer talent and buckets of dedication, he beat the system. I hope he's happy wherever he winds up.

Scored a couple of great goals us and we were being asked for something like £1.5m for a permanent transfer, but we didn't have the funds
18 months or so later, Liverpool paid £5m
