What’s this all about certain clubs wanting to keep control or influence over the premier league and what key decisions get made, the government regulations will see them lose the power they hold very interesting indeed, more interesting that City seem to be the only club backing the regulations from the government..

It is the same thing that always happens when the government goes cartel or monopoly busting. Those that are on the inside scream “this is unnecessary, onerous regulation” and those on the outside support it, as they have very little to lose and quite a bit to gain by a more level playing field.

It is interesting, in this case, given we are by far the dominant force in the Premier League, that we would be among the “outsiders” but one of the few openly supporting the regulation of top level football, rather than self-policing.

That is a fairly unique combination of variables and one of the reasons the cartel clubs—many of them particularly poorly managed during the period of excess and practically free money, which has come to an almighty screeching halt—are trying to, if not stop the regulation, gain some measure of control over the formation and definition of it.

So desperate are they to avoid real scrutiny and accountability, it seems especially when it comes to officiating and financial oversight, they are feigning persecution and government overreach to avoid it.

In some ways it reminds me of the last days of the USSR, when major and minor communist party members alike despairingly scrambled to stave off the inevitable, and/or attempt to cleave off a junk of what remained for themselves before the collapse. So many operating wildly—many others pragmatically—to avoid ruin or worse.

That is the stage I believe the Premier League is in right now. The days of the loosely self-regulated, highly corrupt order are numbered.

Now all that is left is to gain the most favourable position possible as the new order is established in a chaotic transition.

We’re among the leaders of the counterculture that have wanted regulated capitalism for a decade.

And we’re prepared for what is coming.

Pundits on sky kept mentioning that change is coming. Neville tweeting about it. They know the writing is on the wall
Regulation, control, scrutiny and sanctions are coming and City are be using soft influence to encourage and shape it.

City’s reach and growth as a global sports enterprise is beyond most laymen’s imagination.

The days of the red cheeked arses domination are over, they know it and hate it because ultimately everything will have to be above board and subject to independent public scrutiny.

As for little neville the bitter prick, he won’t even be amongst the bag carriers.

It’s our time and we’re entering the final furlongs !!

Don’t mind Neville as a pundit but get the feeling he’s not as clever as he thinks he is.

His tweets on politics and football admin always seem to have the air of someone showing off but oblivious to his own hypocrisy.

I think he would do well to avoid trying to get in a debate with Martin Samuel as he would come off 2nd best.

Looking that way premier league want the rights all to themselves cut out the middle man
It all feels too cosy to be true, no way does Sly & the PL part ways acrimoniously, both know where the bodies are, it could get really ugly. The PL will always need a broadcaster and platform to do the groundwork & can always offer Sly favourable rates to smooth things over (Virgin media operates similarly) PL football is their only USP these days. This just feels like a shot across the bows of those clubs supporting government regulation, with the PL incentivising viewing figures, which we all know would benefit the red shirts

His limited intellect and poor judgement were brutally exposed when he hosted HIGNFY.

For years watching our games on various TV channels, we've had to put up with pundits drawn from the usual suspects.. United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea. And we've always had to put up with their partiality; sometimes their indifference; sometimes their hostility.

In recent years we have seen an increase in former Blues brought in to do the analyst's role but in the main we still get 'the usual suspects' most of the time.

What bugs me about Ian Wright's recent involvement in MOTD analyses of games involving Arsenal is his continual use of 'We/Us/Our' when putting his two penn'orth in.

The people at MOTD really should sort it out. Wright may be 'passionate' about his old club, I get that. But he should be professional in the role he's now in and control the 'We/Us/Our' claptrap.
I don't mind him showing his colours (so to speak) at all, why would you want a total lack of passion from every pundit? Are we not passionate about City?

Cutting out the 'We/Us/Our' bits wouldn't stop him being an Arsenal fan and it's not like it's unknown. Seems such a minor thing to get bent out of shape on.
