That has always been my view. He seems to be so driven by his personal malice to our owner (and you can only guess why that might be) that he doesn't even do the most basic requirements of a journalist to check his facts and establish the truth. He was shown up by the CAS case because he seemed unable to assess and challenge the demonstrably false narrative which had been selectively leaked to parts of the media. The first question any credible reporter asks when he is leaked information must be: "Why is he telling me this? What's in it for him?" It really is basic stuff.I wouldn’t say Delaney has academic credentials that surpass the large majority of his paper’s audience. I would say he’d be a below average reader of the Independent, intelligence wise. This is manifest from his inability to understand or appreciate relatively complex issues and his poorly developed critical thinking. It’s all relative, of course, but from where I’m standing, he’s more than a bit thick.
The fake sportswashing narrative unravels very quickly when you actually look closely at City's business model. He will never challenge it though and I suspect that he really is too stupid to undersand what is really going on in football.
