A Marriage of Convenience -The Disaffected Unite
Today`s media includes coverage of supporters groups, who call themselves rivals, uniting in their call to return to the good old days before there was wider competition at a time in the past when the league was run on their terms.
Fan groups argue that the Government would not allow ‘important cultural or heritage assets’ to fall into ‘unfit or improper hands’

This is self interest and convenient, co-operative protectionism dressed up as being for the common good but transparently is not. United and Liverpool only care for themselves.
The breakaway Premier League in 1992, forced changes to the distribution of gate receipts, and the European Super League which they plotted and promoted, is just some of the evidence of their self enhancement.
The article also referred to the "protest" which resulted in the first ever postponement of a PL match. This was no noble event as a few in the media tried to spin at the time. Lets be clear. This was organised, illegal disorder. Police and staff were assaulted. Roads were blocked. The general public were adversely affected. Criminal damage took place on the pitch by trespassers.
Yet, United and Liverpool `fans` think that they are cultural assets, a special case that the Government should back now that they do not win as much nor qualify every year for the competition they allegedly so relish even though both have spent fortunes on recruitment, just like the other redtops, Arsenal.
And, so we have it, the redtops join hands in a money driven marriage of convenience. Will it end well or in a messy divorce ?
