Why has the media never compared United's plight with City in the Swales era, when there was a role reversal? I am sure if it was the other way round comparisons would be made. It would be too much for those deluded, washed out journos, who cling to the hope that United will turn things round. They could not contemplate that United keep on digging a hole for themselves and could be in for another decade of turmoil with the odd minor revival.
For me the comparisons are uncanny.
Consistent protests and an owner who refuses to budge.
Overpaying massively on transfers as we did for Daley, Reeves, etc.
Constant changeover of managers and a ghost from the past in the background. We had Alison and Book, they got Solskjaer and Ferguson.
Ronaldo signing is Trevor Francis like signing. A desperate attempt to give fans hope and a player who performed well but left after one season, with the club in turmoil.
Casimiro reminds me of the the McMahon signing. Left Liverpool for City aged 30 looking for a big money contract. Apparently Niall Quinn said in his autobiography that he struggled to adapt to the less demanding standards at City, as he was used to the winning mentality at Liverpool.
Even Arnold with his indiscreet leaking of information to fans reminds me of Swales shouting his mouth off.
Some will say that I should not highlight their mistakes. I think they are too far gone to realise what they are doing wrong, even when it stares them in the face. Their pack of journo sycophants ignore the obvious comparisons because it would confirm they are flogging a dead horse, with further turmoil ahead. They would prefer to pander their clickbait agenda with stories about a white knight on the horizon or how Ten Haag can be their saviour (I suspect he likely to be a minor revival manager, like Bond and Kendal were at City).
