Absolutely it‘s Haaland over Mbappe for the vast majority of City fans. He’s one of us. It doesn’t matter how good he is, he’s better than anyone else because he plays for god’s own club.

I haven’t decided to die on any hill. It is possible to disagree with you and put my side across. You might not agree with that, and that’s fine. I won’t die on a hill about it and neither will you.
So his stats count for nothing (Haaland for the confused one :) )? Admittedly Mbappe hasn't played for us in the PL so his stats in a true farmers league are much more impressive? Is that the narrative you're going for?

I didn't mention fans, I said for the team he's a better fit than Mbappe would be in my opinion. Obviously you'd think that fans would prefer the one who gives us the greater chance of winning.

You are aware that you don't have to try and belittle anyone who disagrees with you?

Impossibility that for the Tash master

2 rules I'd immediately change in football are:

1. Scrap Offside completely. It gives needless advantages to a defending team for absolutely no sensible reason and the judging of it and the disallowing of great goals just cannot be justified any longer. This is an entertainment businesses and being caught offside or pmaying offside offers no entertainment whatsoever.

2. Scrap Penalty Kicks and introduce Penalty goals for when a foul or handball has stopped a certain goal. This would in an instant end players diving to win penalties and penalties being awarded for non goal preventing handballs. If it's an intentional handball then as in any other part of the field of play it's merely a free kick. If the hand ball was like Suarez in the World Cup and effectively a save then there is a goal awarded.

Just those 2 things would cut back on cheating and any bloody need for VAR anyway and I can guarantee it would be a better watch.
I like the idea of scrapping offside altogether. It would make the game much more exciting and would be a big challenge for the coaches.
I'm not sure your second point would work. The determining of certain goal would become the controversy like it has sometimes with the "professional foul".

Remember when they scrapped the passback rule and the Dipper's form took a nosedive?

They relied so heavily on the pass back to the keeper that it took them ages to adapt.

Well... take a guess at which team rely most heavily on the 'offside trap'...

I’m not belittling anyone apart from those who haven’t watched a league because it’s a farmer’s league or count stats from it.

They don’t know that, they’ve decided that because people say it on social media.

Who’s stats count for nothing? They both have amazing records.

Scrapping offside would be nuts.
The “sensible reason” is that it prevents the game from being a contest of “Hail Marys” with each side playing long balls to an array of goal hangers.
Mind you, with Haaland we would win that contest hands down.

Exactly and the same reason heading the ball could never be outlawed.

There are so many holes in that. Sorry. Goal hanging would become a thing defenders would have to push back to mark those players, the game becomes long ball hoofing That's partly why it was brought in.

Handballs that prevent goals... so what if it hits someone's arm by their side but prevents a goal? What if in the build up TAA just sticks his hand out and stops a cross, and it becomes a tactic.

I'm all for changing old rules that serve no purpose but in this case the rules have grown organically to make the game more entertaining like you say it's an Entertainment Business

Can we not debate it on the Haaland vs Mbappe thread instead?
Apologies. I didn’t want it to dominate the thread. I underestimated the depth of feeling for our Nordic Meat Shield.

Mbappe is just a ninja turtle wannabe in a farmer’s league. I don’t understand why anyone would want him in their side.

Back on topic, Delooney is a ****.

Didnt they have a friendly once without offside......ended up like a playground bundle...really shit to watch apparently.

I don't think anyone is saying they wouldn't have Mbappe if he was available and happy to leave France.
I think people have picked Haaland because if his incredible goalscoring record in the German league and Champions League, also Mbappe seems to want a lot of input in team matters judging by reports (might not be true by the way).
If we had both we would probably win everything with a modicum of luck.
Yeah lots of us prefer Haaland because of his family ties with City but that's not the only reason..
It could be we prefer him because he's a goalscoring machine.

Mbappe appears to have his head firmly entrenched up his own arse, we have a team ethic that needs to be held on to, Mbappe has got a "Me" ethic and therefore he can fuck right off.
