Mehdi Benatia

For anyone quoting figures,i'm afraid if you want a player that the team DOES NOT want to sell, then you have to pay and pay extra.
Whether it be Luke Shaw,Lallana,Benatia ,Mangala etc etc. That's the way it is and every signing is a gamble !

True. CH's even more so because there are so few good ones out there. I mean David Luiz for £40 says it all.

ESPN is reporting the fee is £35. Is they including add ons or just inflating the price like everyone always seems to do with us? Pretty stoked we got our CH, DM and RB already. Early business again.

Great buy if true - the best rated defender in Europe last season - sadly he will be away for the ACN with hosts Morocco. That means he misses:
Sat 3rd/Sun 4th Jan - FA Cup 3rd Round;
10th/11th/12th Jan - Everton v Manchester City:
17th/18th Jan - Manchester City v Arsenal:
Tue 20th/Wed 21st Jan - Football League Cup - Semi Final 1st Leg: *
Sat 24th/Sun 25th Jan - FA Cup 4th Round: *
Tue 27th/Wed 28th Jan - Football League Cup - Semi Final 2nd Leg: *
31st Jan/1st Feb - Chelsea v Manchester City:
Wed 4th Feb 7:45pm - Manchester City v Hull City:
(* = Subject to progressing in cups which is not guaranteed.)

If mooted fees are correct, we would sign Fernando (£12m), Sagna (£0), Benatia (£30m) and Caballero (£8m) for just about our limit before player sales (£49m). That would be extraordinarily good transfer business to strengthen our squad for so little. The Barry compensation fee should cover Zuculini.

We'll raise money, maybe not a fortune but a considerable amount, from player sales so there may be enough later in the summer for one more 'luxury' signing if required. This is, of course, assuming that Yaya and Negredo don't leave (it may happen) in which case their transfer fee goes towards a replacement.

I think those 4 signings will make us much stronger next season. Especially if we keep Alvaro and Yaya

Were will this leave Garcia? Will he be omitted from the CL squad?

If so I could see him asking to leave

Couple of Benatia rumours tonight: beIN Sports saying £29.5m deal agreed, Rai Sport saying £30m + Nastasic bid made. Nothing truly reliable.

Quite a few rumours going about this week, maybe something is finally happening.

Thats a bit on the high side

Just not true, or should I say, still wishful thinking at this stage.

Couple of no mark outlets taking a punt, knowing the interest is there, anyhow.

Picked up by more no marks, who don't want to be left behind.

Just the latest recycled wash on its latest spin.

Price agreed with Porto for Mangala.

Wages agreed with Benatia camp.

Both only get you so far.

We holding out for mangala then?

Question then is I wonder which one we really want.

As stated, we have simply covered both bases.

I believe the club would prefer Mangala for a variety of reasons, but he has provided enough indecision for City to also front the queue for Benatia.

I imagine that any fee agreed with Porto for Mangala would be the equivalent of an acceptable bid for Benatia.

If Benatia and his camp have agreed wages etc but Mangala is still dragging his feet then...?

Mangala is a higher premium because we were given Fernando on the cheap.

Porto own more of Mangala's economic rights than they did on Fernando.

Porto are more frustrated with Mangala than we are.

We won't pay Mangala money for Benatia, but would still be a big number.

Is anyone else genuinely willing to stump up the required cash to sign Mangala? If not, then I guess we're just waiting for the penny to drop in Mangala's head. Sounds like it's still more likely we will sign him than Benatia.

If Fernando was sold to us on the cheap, are we now technically obligated to buy or at least offer for Mangala?

Otherwise, what I'm saying is if we have such a set amount put aside for Mangala but the player is keeping his options open why don't we use that money to bid for the player we have wages etc all agreed with?

I assume it's because we think Mangala is a better long term prospect for us and I do think that the fact he's left footed will be a big factor.

I'm interested in the link between any deal for Mangala and Fernando.

Seeing as Fernando has already signed "on the cheap" on the provision we sign Mangala as well, is there some sort of agreement or clause that if we sign someone else then we have to pay Porto a little more?

Or are our hands tied, having to go all in on Mangala?

Because we don't agree with Roma's sky high valuation for a player who is older than Mangala.

We have fulfilled our obligation to Porto and the money had been on the table for weeks.

Nah mate, there's no link - why would there be?

Porto can ask what they want, we will offer what we want. There can't be any random clause as ultimately the decision rests with the lad himself.

I'd speculate that Mangala's indecision is rooted in Mendez keeping his options open incase his mate Maureen comes calling in August.
