Message from a Sunderland fan

Watching City the other night is like watching a different sport to my lot at Sunderland. I hope the long term Maine Road lot are lapping it up.
As others have said I've always had a soft spot for Sunderland and West Ham both, I've no doubt you'll be back. I've known a few Mackems and they've always been good lads, absolute piss heads but good lads :)

I didn't know you had a new owner, what's the (very) early verdict on this Kyril Louis-Dreyfus guy? You have a good feeling about him.

Don't forget that even on your darkest days, at least you're not Geordies.

Soft spot for Sunderland.
Wishing nothing but the best for the long suffering fans up there.

Feels like Sunderland might be a perfect example of what could be the first 51% supporter funded club. The support has really suffered, but hopefully they can come ROARING back up the leagues and settle in like West Ham, Leeds, Villa & Southampton have done.

Remember in the 90s playing Sunderland last game of the season when we sent them down (think it was 3-2 and an amazing game). Brilliant atmosphere, loads of Sunderland fans in the Kippax that day which i wasn't used to as a kid but not a hint of trouble. Remember how good the Sunderland fans interacted with the City fans that day in what could of easily got very nasty and always stuck with me.
Quite a few in the main stand too and nothing but happy thoughts and wishes for them.
They were respectful that day, not a gob shite amongst them

We will never forget Sunderland fans for their fine work on this day...

Unforgotten, their Poznan when City won the title.
(Final whistle at 1:00). Whenever I'm in a bad mood,
I watch this. Epic.

After the league cup final me & a couple of pals walked into the Argyle in London for a drink , draped in City attire we opened the door & the place was wall to wall Sunderland , we gulped , took a deep breath & headed for the bar , needn’t have worried , to a man these lot were class, falling over themselves to have a chat & buy us drinks . Sunderland fans left a good impression on me that day , not sure the other lot would have been the same , actually I know they wouldn’t. I wish Sunderland all the luck in the world

Lived in Sunderland for a few years when at uni, real soft spot for the club and hope they get back up soon,

We got on the wrong tube to Wembley when we played Sunderland in the final, full of Sunderland fans.
We thought we'd get our heads stoved in but they were safe, good fans.
There were loads of Sunderland in our hotel, they were Great considering they had lost and enthusiastically joined in our celebrations, including congering round the bar at closing time.

Very nice words on here, thank you.
I was at Maine Road in 91 and also 2 years earlier for a 1-1 draw.
Only been to Eastlands once and we were 2 nil down before I got in.
I return your compliments about down to earth fans and bellend neighbours.
I have to admit
I'v always had a soft spot for the north east clubs
newcastle too fella, don't shoot me !
that region deserves so much more

a great place to have a break, great welcoming people.

Like most others, I've got a soft-spot for The Mackems. I was up there as a student 83-85 and went to Roker Park to watch a few of their games.

I was at the League (Milk) Cup SF v Chelsea in 85, which was interesting. Had Chelsea fans in the seats behind the paddock I was in... A few coins whistled past my head.

Their fans were always great, unlike the other teams from the NE, who were always cunts.

I still look out for their results.
