I was at Roker for the replay in 73. We had a great team and having knocked out Liverpool Big Mal thought it was our year but Sunderland team and the Roker Roar were too much for us and you went on to Wembley.
There's still plenty of relegation fights for yer - it's just that it's not us that figure in 'em!I still miss the relegation fights tbh.
Loved listening to that taxi driver bemoaning the fact that the Daily M/E had no report on a Sunderland game - Tory bastards!!Really enjoyed the Netflix series on Sunderland, reminded me so much of City in our dark days.
I was at chesterfield away 98 a great draw in our history, think Bradbury scored ?There's still plenty of relegation fights for yer - it's just that it's not us that figure in 'em!
Didn't Chesterfield beat us in one of the cups?I was at chesterfield away 98 a great draw in our history, think Bradbury scored ?

I remember not being born you foc, only 54 today, happy birthday me ;/)I well remember going to roker new years eve 1966. We lost 1 0 to a late Bobby Kerr goal. Some pillock pulled the chain on the return train to Newcastle for our connection to Manchester. Back in town after the last train to Bury, my dad picked me up near crumpsall on on my walk back to Bury. I was one of a very few blues from Bury in those days. Met many Sunderland fans after the 2014 final - simply wonderful people.
first Sunderland fan I knew was P E teacher at secondary school John Thomlinson top man who went to the 73 F A cup finalI have good friends who live in Seaham.
Will be popping up hopefully in the summer.
All mackems and lovely people
Not any more Marra, the wind has been knocked out of our sails so many times that these days we hardly make a sound. It will be different once we get back in the top league, but after a couple of years where we are now, it’s hard to sing your heart out for the lads for 90 minutes at Fleetwood on a Tuesday nightI don't blow smoke up anybody but in my view when on blob they are the loudest. I have been to Old Firm games and other matches but I think they probably are.
We had a mini bus load we invited down for the 91game. Always shit being relegated but we all had a good drink together. To be fair, most Sunderland fans have a soft spot for City too, and see a lot of similarities between the two clubs pre Arab days. Local lads (and a few lasses) supporting their local team, or their dads team who had to move 250 to find work in the 70/80s
My first away game was at Maine Road in either 81 or 82, it ended 2-2, and I loved being in the Kippax, for the relegation game in the 90s that a lot have spoken about, 4 of us had tickets in the main stand, 3 of us were well oiled after drinking at some huge pub before the game, and no bother at all.
Yep it would be the same for any team. It was when the goals went in when Phillips scored. The roof kept it in. They extended it and it lost a bit with of course Sunderland going backwards. Not any more Marra, the wind has been knocked out of our sails so many times that these days we hardly make a sound.
