Metrolink to / from Etihad

And yet Burnham is pushing for the Stockport link ! The City centre cannot cope now and yet he's wanting more trams.
I wrote to Burnham last year and asked what transport improvements had been put in place for the start of the new Arena on the Etihad campus and the risk of chaos because of football and music event clashes. There are no proposals included in the detailed planning application.
I got a response from his comms person with a link to the Metrolink website supposedly showlng ongoing improvements planned in the future. None of them had anything to do with the Etihad campus. It was just the usual patronising reply I have come to expect from politicians. Burnham well deserves his reputation as someone who can talk a good game but never delivers.

Yes I caught a double tram at 5:30 from Navigation Road going to Picadilly yesterday evening. I got off at Cornbrook and 5 minutes later an Etihad tram arrived, a bloody single unit. You can imagine the chaos that occurred as more people tried to board at Castlefield, St. Peter's Square, the Gardens and then the station. A lady with a young child was getting frantic.

Who ever is in charge needs to pull his/her finger out, and the Club should (but won't) get involved.

I was already at Cornbrook having come from East Didsbury. I didn't manage to get on that tram but did get on the Ashton tram that arrived 10 minutes later - a packed double that struggled to leave St. Peter's Square. I was at the front and could hear the driver and got the impression he was complaining to the radio that it was too heavy - although he did eventually get it moving.

Whilst at Cornbrook there was tram after tram going to Rochdale - they must have had a big event going on up there - and the blue line trams were only going to Piccadilly. Totally bonkers scheduling.

I really want trams to be the answer to moving around the City - but they need to be reactive to the events that are happening.

Going home - there was nothing on the board going to East Didsbury. Fortunatley my brother was parked at Trafford Bar - so gave me a lift back to my car. But otherwise, i wonder how long I would have been stuck there waiting.

I haven't had time to check the dates but......
A bloke on the tram said his brother works for the arena doing planning.
On the 2 days Uefa have allocated for Champs League semi final matches, Take That are at the arena.
Obviously we have to get to the semis and may not be at home on one of those nights but if we are, boy will it be fun. Especially if its pissing down like last night.

Going home I joined the snaking queue outside the Metrolink stop and eventually arrived at the ticket barriers. The platform was full as were the pens beyond the barrier. Eventually a tram arrived and cleared the platform, no idea where it was heading. As I shuffled round the pens beyond the barrier I noticed they were filling an Altrincham tram I got to the stairs and the Metrolink people were shouting hurry up there is still room. Sods law I got to the platform just as the tram departed. I was bloody annoyed as I was heading back to Navigation Road and feared I was in for a long wait. Guess what next tram was an empty double unit going to Altrincham, two consecutive trams to Altrincham - barking mad who is doing the scheduling?

They did fuck all about Istanbul, they'll do fuck all about the Metrolink. I sometimes wonder if they give a fuck about legacy fans anymore
100% , they have given us the finger over Istanbul, ridiculous match day ticket prices for last nights game , for those that drive match day parking options vanishing , trams after games are a joke , trams last night before the game were laughable.

It's the elected members and the good people of Stockport who want the Metrolink; Andy Burnham is pushing for it on their behalf. It's called democracy.

As we waited to leave SS3 last night I pointed out to my brother that the scoreboard was saying that the next tram to Ashton was in 22 minutes! What a farce. I’ve only ever used the tram twice to get back to town and both times it would have been quicker to walk.

Democracy is not pushing something that is going to cause even more problems for everybody. Democracy is about honesty, 'the tram network is at capacity, we will look at ways of improving the infrastructure so that the Stockport line can then be added but until that happens it cannot be accomodated'

To back up a post from this morning.
Take That are at the arena 7th and 8th May
Champs League semi final second leg... 7th and 8th May. I hope I am squashed up against a very proseccoed up 50 Yr old blonde lady. I might miss the first 2 minutes of the match.

Are there not regular enough trains and buses from Stockport to Manchester? The 192 certainly is ever present.
