Metrolink to / from Etihad

Bring back (from what I can remember) the individual livery coloured local buses.

Blue/cream for Ashton
Green for Hyde
Red for Ducky/Stalybridge?

Seems everything will be boring metro yellow from now on.
Dukinfield and Stalybridge were covered by S.H.M.D and were green

It’s the one thing that will stop me going eventually. It’s just such a faff. The hassle of going is just getting worse by the season. I think we played Arsenal in the FA cup the other year on a Friday night for TV, no trains were running for whatever reason and it took me 2 hrs to drive from Warrington.

It was bad enough getting to and from Marland, Rochdale when we lived there. Moving to Poulton Le Fylde signalled the end for me. Just couldn't rely on the trains, and driving was a shitstorm in waiting, so season ticket since 1983 let go.

I'd be lying if I said I don't miss being there, but totally don't miss getting to and from it.

I've carried on from Fleetwood-by-the-sea (second full season here) but, it's certainly a bind at this time of year with driving conditions and having to walk 1 1/2 miles to/from the ground and with limited parking spaces I end up arriving 2 hours or so prior to KO & obviously not able to drink with driving.

Neither myself or Mrs Moon work so she's happy to have some space when I'm out for hours and hours on match days.

I did consider the train but really can't be certain of getting home even if they're not on strike!! I noticed that with being in SS3 the Blackpool SC coaches are usually on their way while I'm on JMW so without being Mr unpopular that's not an option either.

As it stands I'm getting towards turfing it in, next season I intend doing just league games and using the exchange for quite a few games or maybe calling it a day all together.

Barring a few years due to work when games were always Saturdays I've has a SC since '71...it's all becoming a bit too much of a faff these days sadly.

I'd be asking Blackpool SC if they're willing to wait. Surely another ten minutes won't make much of a difference to most people.

To be honest I do enjoy the drive and belting out some tunes in my car most of the time and like walking but not when it's pissing but, it may come to that at some stage.

Are they the blue "coastal coaches" I see at every home game? They always seem to get away early. 3 coaches?

Try doing what I do pal. I park at Navigation road(Altrincham/Timp) park n ride. Free parking. Jump on the tram and change at Cornbrook other wise you'll struggle getting on a tram in town to the match because they're all rammed. Only problem is coming back..its a bit of a cattle market free for all and if you don't mind chilling for an hour afterwards then it'll be fine. But night games could be a problem because you'd be getting home at silly o'clock.

I nearly jacked it around 1990 due to working most all Saturday nights (Daily Mirror, Hollinwood) Mostly still Saturday 3pm ko's, so straight home after the game, get changed, and in work for 6 pm and a 12 hour shift on the busiest printing night of the week. Like a zombie on Sunday. Was worse still if had been in Friday night too. But being 30 meant I could do it. No chance now :-)
