Metrolink

As someone who used to work in town I know the metrolink is an absolute shambles. Trams often run late and with only 2 carriages it is hard to even get on. The whole thing is a good idea but has been implemented poorly and it has potential to be so much better. In contrast when I last went to fulham away there was a tube half a mile long waiting at the station to take us away. And the next one was due in 3 mins. People slag off the tube but it pisses on our trams

The tube is heavily subsidised by the country, most of the people who don't even use the tube are paying for it.

Its always suprised me that they've never considered buidling a train station on the line that runs behind the athletic stadium. Its sill used for frieght I believe, and you could then have trains direct to and from Victoria taking less than five minutes..
Point on mate, could of build a station when the stadium was built, and could of diverted some trains via Ashburys into Victoria instead of Piccadilly, or could of put football specials from Victoria to Ashburys on match days, but like always, people in power like to talk about more people on public transport, but when it come down to it, nothing happens !

Perhaps the Sheik could buy Northern Rail..

Its definitely an option worth looking at though, if the stadium is ever expanded they'll need every means to get fans away after the game..

It's one thing Wembley got right. Getting away from the stadium on rail is a doddle. Takes me 20 mins max

When you get to Ashburys the train has to reverse to go back into Manchester. Is it possible to go Vic->stadium->Ashburys->Picc? Picc->Ashburys->stadium->Vic looks more feasible.

You might have to go to Guide Bridge to get the train back onto the right line into Picc.

Or just go to and fro- Vic-> stadium

Posted this before but it doesn't seem to have appeared on BM.

Just a question if anyone can help.
My son will be starting at Manchester Uni in Sept and as I've lived away from Manchester for many years I'm no longer familiar with the bus routes.

He'll be living in Victoria Park Campus and meeting me at Eastlands on matchdays. Can anyone give me some advice as to the best way for him to get to the ground ? I assume a bus to Piccadilly and then another to the stadium (or walk along the canal path). Which are the best buses to get ?

Bus to Piccadilly then walk for 15 mins OR get another bus from right outside Kro Bar to the ground.

To the stadium, is it up and running and now? If not, anyone know whether it will be operating for the new season?

cheers
It'll be running two weeks after Michael Johnson's comeback.

And both will probably weigh the same as well...
