Just a question if anyone can help.
My son will be starting at Manchester Uni in Sept and as I've lived away from Manchester for many years I'm no longer familiar with the bus routes.

He'll be living in Victoria Park Campus and meeting me at Eastlands on matchdays. Can anyone give me some advice as to the best way for him to get to the ground ? I assume a bus to Piccadilly and then another to the stadium (or walk along the canal path). Which are the best buses to get ?

Bus to Piccadilly then walk for 15 mins OR get another bus from right outside Kro Bar to the ground.

Thanks bowdonblue.

Yes I assumed a bus to Piccadilly, but your info re: the Kro Bar is helpful.
Walking to the ground is fine unless it's lagging it down.
Cheers

Bus from anywhere along the Burnage/Levenshulme roots to town or the Fallowfield/Rusholme roots to town. Then it's a 15-20minute walk from town, or a bus ride or better still £4 in a taxi (i always end up sharing with other Blues or away fans when i get a taxi from Piccadilly, making it next to nowt and quicker than walking or a bus!)

I used to live in Victoria Pk but that was about 5 years ago. Buses might have changed

If he's near Upper Brook St then No 50 into Piccadilly (or walk to Oxford Rd where there are more buses and nearly all go to Piccadilly and they are at least every 5 mins) then 216 from Kro Bar at Picc Gardens or walk it from Piccadilly.

Anyone thinking this will be a good service is going to be severely disappointed I feel.

Overpriced, will be absolutely rammed, and I'd give it an extra hour just to be sure a line failure up in Altrincham doesn't make you late for the game.

Walk it if you can, if you can't bus or drive. It's a terrible system.

It's about choice isn't it? If the tram doesn't turn up, you can get the bus or walk. If you were going to walk but it rains, you can choose the bus or get the tram if one turns up that isn't "rammed" and if you can afford it. It can't be worse to have the tram as an option, even if you choose not to use it.

been using it for years, always found it fine (some people do like a good moan though, did you used to sit in the old Platt Lane end Harold?)

Thanks to all Bluemooners for your advice on this. Much appreciated.

Pretty sure the trams will be absolutely brilliant for me and the rest of us who sink a few in City square before and after the games. A lot of people on here seem to think that every single person arrives just before kick off and leaves straight after when the trams and everything else will no doubt be very busy, they don't

agreed
we'll use it
leave the car in bury, tram to town, couple of beers, on to the game, couple after the game and watch the highlights, tram to town, bite to eat and then back to the frozen wastes of east Lancs
