Metrolink

I was talking to the landlord of the Mitchell arms on Sunday and he told me they have said it wont be running until December. He said there have been test runs but there was an issue with the power/signals and they couldn't get the fucking thing to run back to town....

as long as it run there though, that's the main thing

Should have been ready for the Commonwealth Games - it wasn't.
Should have been up and running by Spring 2012 - it wasn't.

Metrolink website gives no regular updates and don't answer e-mails sent to them.

The new "Yellow" trams are SHITE!

I think I will stick to the buses.

To be fair a lot of the stop-start and moved completion deadlines for the Metro have been due to Manchester city council being repeatedly fucked over by the Department for Transport.

Blues of my generation will recall the Greater Manchester Transport System during the early 70's which was labelled as SELNEC (South East Lancashire North East Cheshire).

It was locally re-translated as 'Seldom Early, Late, Never Even Coming'.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it ?

Just a thought.

If the Metrolink line is open by the time we play Leeds in the FA Cup, it will be the 1st real test for the Police and stewards.

There will be 100's of Leeds fans using the trams and getting off and on at the Etihad stop and passing through City Square.

Could be interesting.

If you know what it's like going to the swamp on those things, most blues will carry on walking to and from the games. I know I will. It will be a lot quicker and a damn site more comfortable. Even in the rain.

Should be easy enough to get the Leeds fans to stay on the tram to the halt after the City Square one, and as it seems to be behind Asda would also be as handy (or handier) for the south stand, either that or take them off at Holt town
