Micah Richards (2014/15)

Re: Micah Richards

How much did we offer Oldham for Micah's sell on clause a few years back?

if I had Micah's ear I'd ask him to sign his extension and take one more year to try and play himself back into the side - as RB or CB; he's got the pace & physique, he just needs the playing time.

To play, you have to be healthy. That is the entire problem.

He'll go to Liverpool for around £6m and Rodgers will bring out the footballer in him that we all know he can be.

He's not a 'footballer' tho, he's more of an athlete if anything. He is shocking on the ball and has no football brain at all.

His pace has got him out of trouble on a ridiculous amount of occasions and due to injuries he can't rely on that anymore.

Simpy just not good enough anymore and he will never rediscover the form of 2011/12.

Like he did with Kolo - heralded as the signing of the summer in September! Hardly been seen for months since he became rather prolific in front of his goal.

come on... Micah & Kolo are two different players at two different parts of their careers; Micah has been unfortunate with injuries recently, but if he stays fit (and why shouldn't he?) and gets his games, he'll play himself back into contention.

on his day Micah (even with his weaker tendencies) can play a stormer.. it's a pity we can't mind-meld him with the pony-tail-wearing-one.

I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up - if indeed no one can persuade him to change his mind & stick around for one more season; he's been great for City, and a player who's attitude and commitment you can only respect.

When he was playing with Richard Dunne who took the time to tutor and mentor him regarding his positional play Micah looked a more than excellent prospect and that was in the Premiership too. I really do think he is and can be a 'footballer' with the right coaching.

I think Micah started going downhill when he started bulking up

He has the physique of a boxer now not a football player

It's not his physique that's the problem. It's his total lack of ball control and an inability to read the game.

Fixed.

I think it's to be expected any player who is only capable to play once a month or so will naturally be rusty and lack a good touch and not be able to read the game as well as someone playing week in week out. Look at Kolarov this season and how much he has improved with the confidence he will play most weeks. Same applies for Richards.

Rodgers won't touch Micah with a bargepole. You can take that to the bank. He's trying to build a technically gifted team, like City are, and Micah is lots of things but technically gifted and comfortable on the ball is not one of them.
