How much did we offer Oldham for Micah's sell on clause a few years back?

A garbage figure in the region of 500k if I remember correctly.

If we can get £2m, I'll be more than delighted. Would fund a lot of the stand and provide much needed funds for the squad.
£10 million I fucking hope someone offers us that. Really though £5 million is more realistic

You're probably right. I'm just factoring in the "He's English" factor.

I thought we offered them closer to a million, as chelsea were sniffing about for 20 million supposedly

At the time we rejected your offer, Richards was looking like a proper player and, like you say, a £20m player. Our board would be aware of the market at the time, particularly with regards to English players, and would never have agreed go a sub £1m offer, purely because we could have got 4x that if he did go for £20m. Even if you sold him in the summer, we'd rake in a £1m minimum.

It was £2m iirc........

I love Micah to bits as he's one of us, but as much as it pains me to say this, it's probably time he moved on to a team with lesser expectations who can put up with his constant injuries.

Apparently he was offered a new 5 year contract and turned it down because the money wasn't enough and he wanted assurances about his playing time. You've got to be fit first Micah before you can get assurances about your place in the team which should be earned anyway and not expected.

I'd love him to regain his fitness and to pose a challenge to Zabs, over to you Micah.

Re: Micah Richards

I met him at a freindly at edgley park in pre season really is a top lad who loves city and is properly one of us.
but.....
his game has gone down hill and maybe needs to move on

It's not his physique that's the problem. It's his total lack of ball control and an inability to read the game.

Fixed.

I think it's to be expected any player who is only capable to play once a month or so will naturally be rusty and lack a good touch and not be able to read the game as well as someone playing week in week out. Look at Kolarov this season and how much he has improved with the confidence he will play most weeks. Same applies for Richards.

I have said this throughout the debate in this thread more times than i can remember, its not hard to work out if youre playing every week you become a more polished and sharper player both in body and mind but 99% of people in this thread will just dismiss the point thats been made because
They personally don't rate him as a footballer, so thats that.
The problem micahs got is getting on the pitch regular, maybe a summer of customised training and a good uninterrupted pre season might get him back on track.
Tbh when i read some of the comments its quite obvious some of you are just haters, simple as that.

Lol - im bracing myself for the replies !!

I really do think he is and can be a 'footballer' with the right coaching.
Do you think that none of our current coaches are capable of "the right coaching" ?

City have moved on I'm afraid, we want to be the best club side in europe, its a long way ahead of where we were when Dunney and Micah were playing together and Micah was still a "prospect".

He's 26 this year and can't stay fit, but even if he could, he's not good enough to be at the level we are aiming for.

I say that with regret because I don't think there are many blues who wouldn't wish him to be, can he ragin that level, probably not, but its possible, do City have time to wait ? Absolutely not, we need a relaible, and excellent RB as back up, in fact we needed it about 8 months ago.

Have we moved on that much and are we that much better than we were when we won the league ?

A season that Micah played a massive part and incidentally looked a top drawer player.

How much is a right back going to cost who will push zab or even surpass him eventually, a few quid i can imagine and probabley wont be english , which could be a problem.

As iv said, customise a summer training regime that he has to do before pre season and fully explain the importance of it putting his city career back on track, it might just make all the difference - you never know.

He is refusing to sign a new contract so we have no choice but to sell him while we can

If that is the case then youre right we have no choice, any player who thinks he has no future at a club would probabley do the same- unless your Danny mills of course!!

My problem is more so the way people bad mouth him and make out how poor a player he is , he will go somewhere and excel, it is bound to happen, mark my words .
