As much as it is annoying when people go on about "no english starting player for City today" etc etc. I do have a niggling feeling that our English players are seemingly being phased out and there's no other English players of the same quality I can think of that we'd be likely to buy.

Hart obviously having issues.
Milner whilst he's not been playing great has obviously not had much playing time.
Now questions over Richards.
If Rodwell doesn't get over his injuries he might be shown the door.
Barry is as good as gone.
Lescott could be off too.
Don't think Milner going anywhere and it was good to see Rodwell back on the bench at least today.
If only certain players would take a good long look at Jimmy Milner and just put there heads down and get on with it.

Spot on, Mr NijinskyFranny.

James Milner is THE model professional.
That's Mr HendryBradbury to you sunshine, 2 of the finest players to ever wear the Blue of City.

Re: Micah Richards

we must cash in on richards . it seems he wants his contract to run out. we cant have players who don;t like fighting for their place. the guy is complaining about not getting enough time, but fails to realize that it is his own fault and nobody else's .

bit of an about turn from Micah. It wasn't too long ago that he was saying he would stay as a squad player as he loves the club.

ok, So I have now read the full article. micah again states that he loves the club and doesn't see himself leaving. he just needs reassurance of playing time. if he did leave, he would like to return to the club I the future in a coaching capacity. a slight change in his original stance, albeit minor.

Re: Micah Richards

I like the lad but Zab is a better player at the moment & should start over him all day. If he needs more starts he might need to leave.

For me Richards is a better attacking midfielder than a fullback, and that is where we should play him, he could be a younger Yaya with his power and speed.

Can someone post that no sure if serious gif for me please. Richards is no way capable of playing the yaya role.

Re: Micah Richards

Except Micah doesn't have the passing range or the footballing intelligence to do what Yaya does, the fact that his positional awareness hasn't changed in years proves that.

Re: Micah Richards

Micah's only real advantage over Zabaleta were his surging runs and assists. Zabaleta improved his attacking game and has 3 assists already in the league this season. Micah, at his very best in 11/12, got 5 assists.

So basically, there is no real aspect of football that Micah is better than Zabaleta at now, that's why he's firmly second choice. Zabaleta is far more intelligent too, and you need a level of intelligence in a system like ours. If he has the fight, he could still improve and try to win his place back.

If not, then it'll be sad to see an academy player go, but that's just how it is... maybe we can look at Clyne from Southampton or buy a centre-back who is also very good at right-back (like Sergio Ramos).

Re: Micah Richards

Last time he had a proper run of games was the title winning season. He was easily the best right back in the league that season. Be patient. He's had a huge amount of time out and it'll take him a while to get back to his best, but he will eventually.

Re: Micah Richards

Simply he has to earn Manuel Pellegrini's trust whether it is through form, staying injury free or if I am being greedy both. He hasn't got long left on his contract and unfortunately the club cannot to give him much more time.
