Micah Richards

If he can't complete 20-25 games this season, I honestly think Txiki and Soriano may cash in. He's averaging 22 of 38 league appearances in his 8 (his 9th starting now) seasons with the first team so far but in the last 4 seasons that is down to just 19 of 38 league appearances.

Wow!

Effectively he is on double his nominal salary, given he can only actually play in 1 out of the 2 games we pay him for.

I think if Micah stays fit he will be first choice this season. He's perfect for the way Pellegrini pushes his fullbacks on, whereas zab is the wrong kind of player for it.

??

Zabaleta leads our assists with two in three games so far, to say he is wrongly suited is just ignorance.

Micah due back for Stoke away according to this report by ESPN

Micah Richards is set to ease Manchester City’s defensive injury problems by returning to contention for next Saturday’s game at Stoke.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini will be without captain Vincent Kompany, who injured his groin against Newcastle on August 19 and could be out until October.

And Martin Demichelis, who arrived from Atletico Madrid for £3.5 million on September 1 to become Kompany’s deputy, suffered an Achilles injury on Thursday.

The Argentina international, who is yet to make his City debut, has been ruled out for six weeks.

But Richards, who missed the start of the season with a hamstring problem, returned to training last week and is progressing well, while sources close to the club have told ESPN he is on course to feature at the Britannia Stadium.

The 25-year-old was limited to seven league appearances by injuries last season, but while he has usually been deployed as a right-back in recent campaigns, he played in the centre of the defence under former City bosses Stuart Pearce and Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Pellegrini has only two fit senior specialist centre-backs in Joleon Lescott and Matija Nastasic, but both are left-footed players and accustomed to playing on the left of a partnership.

Lescott endured some awkward moments as the right-sided centre-back in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Hull.

Midfielder Javi Garcia has also stood in for Kompany but struggled in City’s 3-2 defeat to Cardiff on August 25.

Welcome back Micah this is your chance to shine!!

I see there's nothing for BM to talk about with this international break...

Make or 'brake' hahaha. Didn't you hear Khaldoon?

He put over a great cross for negredo last week. He's also been making errors and running into navas' space all season. But this is not about stats or ability. It's about the way the two play. Pellegrini has been shown to clearly favour a system where the fullbacks push right on and overlap when the attacking midfielders come inside. Zab isn't quick enough or a good enough crosser to do this effectively on a consistent basis. I believe Micah is.

I hope Micah is looking seriously at the present situation.
I know it's only 3 Premier games in but he should be banging Pelly's door in.
We are short at Centre Half... A position he is very capable of covering.
Also, although I loved Zaba's pass to Negredo he hasn't started as he finished last season so Micah should be sniffing his opportunity.
That is why we are now creating so much competition around all places in the squad.
Hopefully, Micah see's this too.

I think some of you forget that Micah has rarely ever missed a game for because of some wimpy/ girly type injury. It's usually cos he's put his body and soul on the pitch for us.

You ungrateful f#@kers!

Agree 100%

Despite his injuries he should be an england regular wh would be as popular as Hart on the national stage. He's a talisman of this club.

Couldn't agree more .......

both Richards and Kompany have have far too many injuries , they know it , we know it !

At 25 and 27 years old respectively , both are relatively young men , and both players really need to make their mark now on a 'consistent basis' , not the odd short spell of games ........
Putting Kompany and Richards in the same boat is absolutely ridiculous.....and your comment implying that Kompany has not yet ''made his mark '' is mind boggling.

Also, over the past three seasons Richards has made only 18, 29 and 7 (total of 54) appearances whereas Kompany has made 37, 31 and 24 (total of 92) appearances......there is no comparison to be made over their contributions in recent seasons..... we know it and you should know it!!!!!.
