Michael Johnson arrested

sorry, presumed it was self-explanatory, yeah if they cause a fatality, I'm not going to charge anyone just drunk driving with manslaughter, but I definitely think strict rules like suspension of license, hefty fine and any added charges that would occur if the incident took place outside a vehicle is the right way to do it, I just don't see why there should suddenly be a far lower level of responsibility, culpability and punishment because you're on a mode of transport.

I don't think there is. If you get convicted of drink driving, you will get an automatic ban, and substantial fine, if you are convicted of speeding you get a fine and a few points (unless its a stupid offence). If you kill someone doing 40 in a 30, you will get done for death by dangerous driving more than likely, and will get jail, if you kill someone while drink driving, you will get a bigger sentence. If you get convicted of manslaughter it will depend on the individual circumstances what sentence you get.

Its the same for all crime, its the circumstances that make the same conviction have lesser or higher terms. Much is said in the media about sentences given for this and that, and anyone who has lost someone will feel no sentence is enough, but without knowing the full circumstances nobody can say what is good and and what isn't. If the CPS feel a sentence is too lenient, then they now can appeal it.

As for MJ, if convicted, he's damaged his car, someone elses, and himself a little, as well as his reputation, so a fine and a ban will be in order.

Yes he could have killed someone, but so could I driving to work tonight, if I had made a mistake or lost concentration.

Am I one of the very few that actually feel sorry for the guy?

He clearly has a number of psychological problems and even if he never kicks a ball again for City I would hope he can get help for his disorder.
I have seen many people waste much talent in all walks of life and it is always very sad to see, he needs to seek help.

Since when did being a piss head get classed as a disorder?

I'm a bellend when I'm pissed so I dont drink. Its that easy.

Perhaps you should talk to somebody about it, at the moment you're just hiding from the root cause of you being a bellend. I think you might find it's not the alcohol that does that to you.

If you kill drunk driving you should get maximum sentence for manslaughter imo.

If you cripple them you shouldn't get much less, none of this 3 years bollocks that Lee Hughes served after needing to only serve half of a 6 year sentence for KILLING someone, but as he's in a car that suddenly makes it better than him just smacking him over the head with a brick or summit.

It ain't about that it's the fact that he was a talented boy and we all had hopes he one day might have been a star for us. He has let us down and himself down.

Maybe as I have he will look back in years to come with regret, only the wages the kids get now he may be secure for life already and not give a flying fuck and be in 5th avenue tonight.

You paying then smart arse ? or could it be someone on a friday night posting on bluemoon has fuck all idea what they are talking about :)

Some people are just dicks when drunk and have no underlying issues.

I think the lads suffering from depression, he was talked of as being the new colin bell now he can't get a game for leicester city. People have to realise that when you are suffering from depression you don't think the same as you normally would, i'm not saying it's ok to drink drive but a michael johnson not suffering like this may not have done this so i think he needs help and support and not people judgeing him before they know the full picture.
I hope he get's the help he needs becouse everybody deserves a second chance.
